Whether it be a fan fiction, a publicized novel or a series of random “honorings” (Halo: Legends):
What is your favorite Halo Story? Do you prefer an author fleshing out his/her own vision of the Haloverse or do you prefer adaptable canon in all it’s connecting splendor?
Visually:
I think off the top of my head, without being modest and choosing my own Halo: Engaged =), I very much adore the idea in The Babysitter from Halo: Legends.
Game-adaptation:
Halo 3:ODST was a nice veer off the beaten MJOLNIR path. ODSTs are considerably the next best thing to Spartans and this batch was not only a great identifiable cast, but the flashback sequence of missions was a nice change of pace as well.
Story:
It’s hard to pick a favorite. I fell in love with the characterization of John 117 in The Fall of Reach. None of the games put him in a better human perspective. The games paint him as the faceless one liner. The books build him into much more.
The humanization and compassion from Kurt to the Spartan III’s in Ghost’s of Onyx was enchanting to say the least.
I LOVED the “tables turned” motif of Glasslands with the tension finally coming to a head with Halsey and Mendez as well as Lucy’s coming out. Also, anything that involves Fred and Kelly = Win/Win for me. Ka Five will appreciate =)
I also just started reading Evolutions (Bought the dual-volume edition) and really dug Pariah. I like the “other side” perspective, in this case, a Wash Out. I managed to check out the motion-comic of Headhunters and really dug that as well. Looking forward to reading more.
Next on my purchase list is First Strike, Cole Protocol and Contact: Harvest.

The evolutions parts two i haven’t read yet! true about Mc in the game but maybe Halo 4 might help bring out more of him…Loved First strike and Cole Protocol.
Eh, there will still be minimal interaction with any humans. We still won’t get to see any emotion or visual feeling from John IMO the way the books showcased him.
I wanted to get the full thing of Evolutions anyway since the Nook version isn’t clear whether it only has Volumes 1 and 2.
I like ODST for the same reasons, and I would have to say the new Forerunner novels are my favorite, because they are revealing things previously unknown about the Forerunners.

I can’t wait to get into the Forerunner series. At first I thought it was just a huge description of the world and culture but there’s characterization. MUST KNOW!!
@ Killer - Same sir. I don’t have a single favorite anything. I have about 3-5 of whatever lol
