What are your favorite Halo novel books so far?
New Blood
Are the Halo books good? I remember a really long time ago a friend I had in school during the H2 days use to read them. I haven’t read any video game lore books, but I do remember seeing an old school Doom book in a used book shop before(I’m sad I didn’t buy it cause it was gone fast ;_;).

Most of Halo books are great, you definitely should read them starting from The fall od Reach. It explains how Spartans became… Spartans, what is the Cole protocol and shows how deadly covenant are.

There are so many good ones among the franchise, but if I had to pick my top 3 I would have to say Last Light, The Thursday War, and Ghosts of Onyx.
How many of the Halo novels do you own out of curiosity?

A large majority of the books are wonderful ( especially the ones written by Eric Nylund and Tobias Buckell in my opinion), and the thing that makes the novels so rereadable is the fact that there’s quite big group of them as well. I own 23 of the novels ( still not all of them sadly) and the thing that makes them enjoyable ( outside of the great storyline plots and likeable characters) is that by the time you finish reading the 22nd and 23rd you don’t have that great of a remembrance when it comes down to the 1st and 2nd, so you can just go back and read them. If you like Science Fiction books or just enjoy the backstory to Halo I would definitely start with either The Fall of Reach or the Forerunner Saga to get a headstart on the novels.

I haven’t read any of the Halo novel books. I’m going to get them after Christmas.

I would suggest reading them in chronological order after you finish with The Fall of Reach.

Preach! Easily the best and I would argue one of the beat general sci-fi novels I’ve read.

Alright, I’ll check it out when I got the spare change.

Yeah, I love sci-fi novels. And I’m into long series as well. One of my favorite sci-fi series is the foundation so I think the Halo novels should be better since they have much more lore to work with. Might get me motivated to play through some of the old campaigns again.
