343 brought a lot of new characters into the Halo story. Who do you think is your favorite among the newcomers? It could be from either side of the war, and if they don’t have a lot of face time in the story, tell us why they are your favorite and a little more about them!
I’d have to say that Lasky is my favorite. So commander. Such brave. Very lasky.
Mr. Ur-Didact is a total badYoink!, and even if his backstory wasn’t fleshed out properly in the actual game, he’s my second favorite villain (after the Flood hivemind, of course).
I mean, come on: his actual name is “Shadow-of-Sundered-Star”. How could you not love that?
> I’ve said before (to much disgust) my favorite is Sarah Palmer. For the folowing reasons:
>
> A) She’s a babe
>
> B) She handles guns
>
> C) She’s very tall and I would just about come up to her
This. As much as the community may not like her, I actually liked her a lot.
Others: Thorne, Lasky, Ur-Didact… Aah, can I just say I liked all of them except Del Rio? ^^
Lasky. He’s a good guy, but I think he could use a bit more backbone. Perhaps we just haven’t seen him in cases to use it. But he’s the only new character I’m looking forward to seeing more of.
Lasky is probably my favourite newbie just because he’s a such likeable guy, even before considering his backstory in Forward Unto Dawn. His speech at the end of the game sealed the deal.
Palmer’s my runner-up. I feel like she has the potential to be a lot more appealing than Lasky in future games. I’ve heard the occasional bit of amusing snark from her in SpOps, but 90% of her H4 portrayal paints her as a typical video game badass – that is to say, a vapid tough guy with only the most generic traces of personality. Still, though, she has potential, both because of what little personality does come through, and because of her position as the leader of the Spartans on Infinity.
I’m going to have to say Palmer, I didn’t really like her in the campaign, but she started to grow on me in Spartan Ops and I liked her back story in Spartan Assault.
I say Lasky. Lasky represents the good aspects of humanity, our self-sacrifice, our morals and principles. He never wanted to be a soldier, didn’t want to fight and kill his fellow man. He was drawn into his duty by commitment to protecting his comrades, to saving humanity from annihilation. It was his choice, and he suffers greatly for it every time he enters cryosleep. He represents a truly human hero to me.
I tend to prefer Lasky. His backstory in the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn series and his relasionship to the Chief should make a great character in future games.
Could he live up to Johnson? I don’t know, but I hope so.

Well, you beat me too it.
IMO, besides the Didact, Jul 'Mdama, Roland (his sarcasm and personality is pretty hilarious) and Palmer (well, to an extent), I find Lasky to be a great and interesting character.
Paul DeMarco is snide but has an effective shtick for raging.
Horatio Fry of Spartan Ops reminded me so much of Max Headroom for some reason.
Palmer isn’t really a bad character but it’s mostly the writers fault for going the filler route in Spartan Ops Season One part-one. You have to appreciate the Helljumpers stepping foot first into… Well that doesn’t have to be repeated.
If i had to choose someone, i would go with Lasky.
He didnt annoy me as much as the other people in Halo 4, and i find it kinda funny how he’s name is pronounced the same way as the finnish word for ‘‘fat’’.
Wondered when somebody would say Mr.Spartan Ops Baddie-In-Chief. Despite the bad rap he gets, I have a lot of admiration from his character-He pulled a lot of stuff that just proved how incompetent ONI really is.
They let him get away from Trevelyan, he managed to ammass a MASSIVE cult following in order to awaken the Didact afterwards, managed to get the help of the Didact and his army, pinned the Infinity to almost get destroyed, and goes off to do new nefarious things with half of the Janus key and an entire Promethean Army, and blew up a fricking Forerunner Shield World… All in the desire to get revenge.
