Favorite campaign level in Halo 3?

Title says all. I saw a bunch of topic discussing what their favorite MP map was so I wanted to see what everyone’s favorite campaign mission was. Mine’s probably The Ark; It has a great sniping session at the beginning and taking down a Scarab with a GAUSS-hog is too much fun.

Arrival. No gameplay! (Sarcasm)

Would have to be Halo. The Warthog scene is all it takes.

The Covenant, taking down generators, getting a tank and go from a forested area to a snowy landscape, advancing through enemy lines until you get a hornet, the 2 scarabs, using a hornet to take it down or go on the passenger seats and have the pilot fly you over and come back when you need to make a dramatic escape, ally with the flood, then betrayed by the flood, so many good memories.

The Ark. It was like an entire Halo Game condensed into one level, with the sniping area at the start, then the vehicle segment, fighting your way through tons of extremely easy enemies on a tank, a brief lull in combat, a brief suspense-building encounter with a Scarab… takes a breath Then a Scarab fight, one of the best lines in the game(“Good job, Spartan. I saw that explosion from orbit”), an amazing view (looking out over the endless waterfalls), and a fight against a ton of enemies at the end of the level. It’s great.

The Ark, The Covenant, or Halo. I did like The Storm and Floodgate as well…

The Covenant. Specifically, One Final Effort. Being told Truth could fire the array at any moment, echoing the landing battle of The Silent Cartographer, fighting two Scarabs at once like a boss.

Finally, after it is already too late, you team up with the flood. And they finally prove in gameplay exactly why you should be so afraid.

I’m sure other levels have better gameplay. But The Covenant has more of the one thing Bungie really does well, and the thing that sets Halo apart.

Synergy.

Halo. The Warthog Run is the best part of any Halo game. I like all the levels in the game EXPECT for Cortana.

Yeah I was really disappointed with that one. The best part about High Charity is how huge it felt. You could just yonder way off into the distance and only see to the next segment over.

Cortana was just tiny and claustrophobic. Worst level ever for backtracking.

I have a couple of favorites, them being “The Covenant”, “The Ark”, and “Halo”; but “The Covenant” takes the cake for me. They were all awesome in their own way, but the reason why “The Covenant” wins is because of that last scene between the Arbiter and Truth: he finally kills him and I like their little conversation before the impaling of energy swords… “Then you must be silenced!”

Cortana on Legendary. The most intense level. Seeing arbiter burning mothafuckers in the end was very epic!

Seeing as everyone likes either The Covenant, The Ark or Halo, I actually did the Tsavo Highway. But those three levels had their own ‘epic factor’ (if you would call it that) and overshadow some of the beginning levels. Tsavo Highway was a great level but I wish is was in a more futuristic location like Mombassa streets in ODST. I also did like The Storm just because it introduces you to fighting a Scarab, but other than that it wasn’t very special.

Definetly the ark. This vast Level with its beautiful skyboxes, the vehicle action and forerunner structures are epic! The ark is Halo in its purest form.

The ark,halo and floodgate.

The warthog run at the end of Halo is my favorite part in the whole series but as a whole level I would pick The Covenant.

Damn! When you put it that way, I can’t help agreeing.

There’s one thing missing though. Rally point bravo was CE’s Silent Cartographer (the first 2 rooms were similar) meets AotCR (sleeping Grunts, the turret War Chieftain was reminiscent of the plasma rifle Goldie) with an evacuation reflecting CE’s Silent Cartographer (cloaked enemies, a fight with a hammer Chieftain, Pelican evac).

I admit, The Ark’s rally point bravo had a lot of potential.

The Ark, The Covenant, and Halo.

The ark…everything you could want in a level.
