I was wondering, what is your favorite part of Halo 5? I love arena multiplayer. It feels so balanced and pretty competitive. It feels like an updated return to form for the franchise. I hate how underwhelming the campaign story was. The gameplay was fun, but all the marketing pointed towards a more dramatic and character driven story. Cortana felt shoehorned in and I believe it cuts the Chief’s character development. Locke has potential but was a little under utilized. I’m really enjoying the game over all though! So, what do you love and hate?
I am going to agree with you on the campaign story being a little underwhelming. But TBH I REALLY like the rest of the game! I think REQs are fun and give you a goal to work towards and War Zone is absolutely bad -Yoink-! I have been a casual halo player since CE but since H5, I haven’t played another game!
I love the gameplay especially and I hate Palmer.
My favorite part of Halo 5 is the fluid movement. Thrust, clamber, slide, stabilize (slide-boost: RIP). They’re all pretty cool - mostly because they can be skillfully chained together. The movement dynamics are just generally enjoyable and polished, regardless of if it’s the right style to go down for Halo.
My least favorite part is that it is still not really finished. A lot of baseline features and functionality you’ve come to expect at launch are missing.
I agree. I have a few other games I’ve picked up, but I haven’t touched them. I just play some slayer or warzone assault. Also, REQs are more addicting than hard drugs. I’m always playing just to buy another silver back and then start buying gold packs!

Right?! Why doesn’t she get out in that warzone and do something?! I don’t see her capturing bases to destroy cores!
I love the spartan abilities and how balanced the weapons are. I hate how the fuel rod ruins regret.
I like the 60 frames per second and dislike everything else. I don’t hate much in Halo 5, but there are something in the game that I don’t like, which includes Spartan Abilities and the lack of content.

Oooh! Well lets see where we can begin. Why was there such a lack of game modes at launch? And why do the menus lag so bad in custom games? I also don’t agree with the req packs, I like to earn my gear through challenges not RNG, I already have to deal with that in Destiny. And the story.Why does Locke have more character development than chief and he has only been in one game? And why haven’t they killed Master Chief at this point? His story has very little structure or support and I still find him to be the “Big Green Shooting Machine” that he is, and I understand that they have been adding some character to him but at this point it’s to late to save a sky scraper that’s base is made of Ikea braces. What did I like?.. The forge works pretty well.
Favorite Part: The gameplay and Fireteam Osiris. 343’s ability to accurately portray Builder-rate Forerunner Architecture is incredibly admirable as well.
Least Favorite Part: The abandonment of Master Chief’s character development.

This is an interesting difference in opinion. I didn’t notice the frame rate, except the horrifying drop in campaign when enemies are at a distance. Looked much worse than any previous Halo in that regard.
To me, the higher frame rate and resolution were not worth the lack of detail for Forge pieces and cut splitscreen. I’d take Halo Reaches detailed Forge pieces all day over H5’s smooth plastic pieces.

I totally agree! I was so excited to see what would happen post Cortana. Then she was just brought back. I was super excited to see what was going to happen between Locke and Chief. I love Osiris team too! I hope they get more exposure through comics, books, and expanded fiction! I’d like to get to know them more!
My favourite part?
Warzone, it’s Halo putting fanservice to the max in a social playlist.
My most hated part?
Arena (excluding SWAT, which just seems to work as flawlessly as it does in any other Halo);
-
The auto-aim that can bend bullets a quarter the way of the screen away from the crosshair I see on every Youtube video, doesn’t happen for me even when I’m aiming even closer or in the case that happened about 15 minutes ago as of typing this that made me full on rage quit and get a Arena ban for the third day in a row, when someone crouches, I still shoot them in the head 5 times when they have no shield, nothing happens and they just drain my full shield with a pistol,
-
The rockets, I can jump over the railing of the rocket ramp on Coliseum and thrust away have a rocket get shot where the floor meets the wall, and get killed, I shoot the rocket at the wall when someones clambering onto the ramp over the railing, it just tickles their shields.

For all the focus and marketing of a MLG PROZ COMPETITIFF matchmaking ranking system, it doesn’t -Yoinking!- work. The game that made me ragequit yesterday? I was the only unranked player in the whole game on Team Arena, my team was doing ridiculously -Yoink- compared to me. At the end of the game I see why. My team is all lower-ranked Gold, the enemy is all higher Platinum. Which by the way speaking of players, why are player emblems the only info I get before a game? Why was the UI specifically designed NOT to show gamertags, Spartan ranks or CSR ranks?
-
It’s Ranked or nothing. Yeah they trying to introduce social playlists… NOW. But compare it now to Halo 3;
Halo 3 options
Ranked - Lone Wolves
Team Slayer
Team Objective
Team Doubles
Team Snipers
MLG
Team SWAT
Social - Rumble Pit
Social Slayer
Social Skirmish
Social Doubles
Big Team Battle
Double XP (Weekend only) → Infection, Grifball, whatever other specials on offer.
Notice something? You start off with two options, do you want to play competitively or socially, then you pick from a list of almost the exact same gamemodes.
Halo 5?
RANKED
RANKED
RANKED
RANKED
RANKED
RANKED
Social that the fans demanded and we had to appease them to keep population up.
Social with one game mode for the week.
And what do ranks do? Give you an exclusive emblem for the month. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve always used Rune since Halo 2, what kind of reward is that?
Also, this has bugged me since Halo 3, if I’m playing social, why do stats like K/D get tracked?
The last thing? No “Medals Earned” in the post-game results.
And for as much as I hate the microtransactions, the REQ system is not a bad idea, IF it had a few tweaks, the main one being if the options were like this;
Make armour pieces earnable again then;
Armour skin Gold REQ
Armour skin Silver REQ
Armour skin Bronze REQ
Vehicle Gold REQ
Vehicle Sliver REQ
Vehicle Bronze REQ
Assassination
Weapon Skin
Warzone Loadout Weapon
Warzone Power Weapon
etc.

Yeah, Reach had some really detailed Forge pieces, that is for sure. And I definitely miss the splitscreen because I tend to have friends over and I wish I could play this game with them. Oh well, I still have the MCC if I want to play real Halo with my friends.
favorite part… everything. most hated PARTS. the pistol, AND shoulder charge.
Love: Warzone (pretty much everything Warzone related) // Campaign gameplay, especially with the fireteams, especially Osiris banter // Reconciliation (somewhat) with Dr. Halsey & the UNSC
Hate: “Retrieving Data” (much, much rage) // No post-match medals/kills/etc - yes, it’s online, but why not on the console??
Dislike (not strong enough to call it hate): Cutscene takedown of Jul M’dama (c’mon, not even a mini-boss battle with Locke?) // Somewhat simplistic use of Cortana as the villain (could’ve been a better villain-villain or better conflicted in her beliefs, but near the end she got “better” as the bad guy, especially deriding Osiris one-by-one)
Favorite part is ground pound. Getting kills with it is pretty entertaining and I’ve gotten a few ground pound doubles too. Most hated part of Halo 5 is probably the progression/reward system (REQ system) RNG based progression systems are terrible. The role it plays in warzone is fine by me though.
Favorite: Silky smooth gameplay
Least favorite: Abysmal campaign
my least favorite part is that there is no more spartan ops. I really wish there was some more story as I loved the campaign so much!
my favorite part is litterally everything, such an amazing game! best halo since 3
