So I was wondering, as you can see, what is everyone’s favorite controller button configuration for Halo, as well as should it be kept in the game or removed if you think it is obsolete. My favorite is Bumper Jumper. I love this layout because it frees up my camera rotation with more camera control to turn while in air without having to remove my thumb to hit A to jump. Better reaction and control time. I think it should be kept in game as an optional controller button layout. For those that don’t know what Bumper Jumper is, it moves the jump button from being A to as it states the left bumper allowing for constant contuing control of looking left and right in air.
Can i just ask where you rest your index and middle fingers on the controller? With the above configuration, Its just that I use my index finger for both the bumpers and triggers lol
My favorite is actually universal reclaimer. I believe though that it’s called Halo 4 in the controller options.
I like Recon. Halo 3’s control scheme is just embedded into my hands. I can use other control schemes for other shooters, but I simply can’t play Halo without Recon. I think Bumper Jumper is probably the best and most useful control scheme, but I have to play Recon. I think a lot of people feel the same way.
On a side note: They should really switch the Halo 4 and Default schemes. Halo 4 is just a better version of the Default controls, and Default is just awful on Halo 5.
Controller configs are a thing of the past now. With the Elite controller having open button mapping and the same software becoming universal for all controllers in the future.
I play recon but it won’t matter after I get my Elite controller. then I’ll make up my own lol
I’m getting an Elite controller, so I can do whatever I feel like.
but, didn’t they also say that controller remapping would happen for all games as well?
i have always just used the default setting for any and every game, works just fine for me

If you can spare 150$ for a controller

The software update is free for all Xbox one users, and usable with any controller. Maybe finish reading my original sentence before you try to flame.

The real question is… Why on earth does MS have to make the controller buttons remappable? how hard can it be for developers to just leave the controller schemes open for editing? Like seriously, I get that they have to find some functions together due to number of buttons (reload/interact being most common) but if I want to reload and interact with RT then what does it matter to them? Give us a few presets that you think are good, and then let me remap it. It can’t be that hard, Gearbox did it last gen, Bethesda did it last gen. It’s not a crazy thing to implement, it can’t be.
I believe that it was called ‘Sniper’ settings in Halo 4. Took me a little while to get used to it after playing the Campaign with standard settings, but it was definitely great to use. I hope that they have it in Halo 5 as well, with a few tweaks here and there.
Bumper Jumper. Once you get used to the changes, it just feels right not having to take your thumb off the right stick to jump.

Too bad, you won’t be able to throw a grenade at the exact same time you jump! Really it’s not that big of a deal
I’ve been using Universal Reclaimer in MCC, but that may change with 5 due to smart scope or whatever the ADS is called… I dunno.

I’m wondering that too, don’t know why no one explains why they wouldn’t put that feature in a game.
Default, default has always been best for each halo. Zooming with the trigger in halo 5 makes a huge difference. Trigger zoom has always been better for sniping but I couldn’t adjust to fish sticks.
I actually really like the Guardians default scheme. Its a shame they never put it into the MCC, although we’re meant to be getting button mapping for the Xbox as a whole at some point.
I played Recon for Halo 3, although I had to do universal for Halo 4 because of the AA’s.
