Okay so i actually love the map Fathom, I love its layout, I love its positions, and it’s balancing. But I’ve also always loved fathom for a lot of other reasons, one being that it is easily one of the most beautiful and creative maps in halo 5, along with coded sea Monsters that have more than just one pathfinder code. But have you ever noticed the huge mystery of just what exactly happened to Fathom? I mean there are so many destroyed underwater bases around you, and while destroyed maps are quite common in halo they always have a reason, either it was attacked by covenant or it rusted away due to old age. But Fathom is different if you look closely around red base you can see that it’s taken quite the beating, while the bases outside the window of blue base are relatively intact and so is blue base. So I used machinima mode to get out of the map (for any who don’t know how, just back into a wall that faces the outside of the map and back up as you enter machinima mode) once out I looked around a bit and found interesting stuff like the fact that the Submarine docked in red base is missing implying an escape effort. Also way in the distance there are wierd lights that are apart ignore the skybox but they are in a pattern and style that looks very alien. Also there are underwater fires in some of the buildings implying that the destruction came from the inside. Anyways I know it’s just a simulation but I wouldn’t still like to see you guys’ theories on what happened. I personally love the idea of some great sea beast that attacked and is still lurking unseen in the black depths
Just found this topic today.
Don’t shoot me in the foot here, but I’ve discovered a connection to a rather obscure crate with the label for Liang Dortmund located in fathom. It’s only accessible via the flycam cheat in forge (similar to the hide weapon cheat, probably used for machinimas.) or in theater mode. Beneath blue base is an inaccessable room, and inside there is nothing but a ton of crates (one of which being the liang dortmund crate, it’s a very faded logo too) and a single glowing divers helmet.
I wonder if this has anything to do with this menu easter egg someone found? (see spoiler)
