Fate of Infinity

The other day one of my friends pointed out how Halo 5 ended with the Infinity ship evading the Created similarly to how the Pillar of Autumn evaded the Covenant. While they’re still doing occasional splispace jumps to avoid them, the Halo Infinite trailer implied they lost everything according to the pilot who rescued John. Do you believe Infinity could be gone by the time of or destroyed in Halo Infinite? I personally hope it isn’t gone, it’s the UNSC’s most powerful and my favorite, and I doubt the next Infinity-Class ship, the Eternity is finished by the time.

I think infinity will still be around in HI. Would be weird to leave that story completely unaddressed. Might have been mentioned in a book I’m not sure. I know that a lot of stuff after Halo 5 was in a book.

Guess we’ll see soon enough

Yes the characters had their stories continued in Halo Bad Blood. They mentioned how Infinity does continuous slipspace jumps to ensure Cortana doesn’t catch them. Halo Shadows of Reach continues Blue Team’s side of things.

I’d bet $5 that the wreckage surrounding Chief when he’s floating in space during the trailer last year is from Infinity.

I am hoping that the UNSC Infinity ship survive in the upcoming Halo Infinite. I really want to know what happened to Thomas Lasky, Sarah Palmer and Roland. I hope that they are still alive in the new Halo video game.

Here’s an idea: The Infinity attacks Halo with all it has, damages it, and in the battle, Master Chief and a few other UNSC forces get hit pretty hard. Infinity has to leave ASAP to avoid getting destroyed, and Master Chief is left behind. The game opens a while after the battle, with few survivors. In the first few missions, Master Chief has to go down to the ring to gather up survivors, look for supplies, and find a way to contact the Infinity.

I’ll be honest, I don’t care about Palmer, hope the Created got rid of her sorry, wannabe-badass, pathetic excuse for a Spartan self. Lasky and Roland are alright.

Infinite is a “Spiritual Reboot” and if it mirrors Halo CE, then I’d expect Infinity to either be destroyed or crash on the Ring like the Autumn. Destroying Infinity also is an easy way to get rid of extraneous characters like Palmer.

I want the infinity to be destroyed and then its sister ship the eternity to be the main one. Why, no idea

I remember watching a video recently on YouTube where discuss some “leaks”, and one of them is the Infinity being destroyed prior to the events of Halo Infinte.

Personally I would like that. Humanity should be the underdog fighting against overwhelming odds and technology. The Infinity is just too powerful for my taste.

This isn’t anything new, humans have been underdogs multiple times already in Halo. In ancient times during the Forerunners war against them (although the humans lost that war), and during the covenant’s war against them. I get where you’re coming from for a good story plot but how many times do you really want to see history repeat itself?

Yes, because humanities existence is only to serve as the underdog, kicked into the corner every time they manage to claw and scratch their way up in the universe.

To add my two cents into the conversation, I believe the Infinity will make it through; the Infinity can be used for more stories at the end of the game and is the home to a great deal of 343I’s characters, I feel like 343I wouldn’t waste so much potential just for the shock value of destroying the ship. If it is destroyed then I would at least hope Lasky survives to take the helm of the Eternity.

That quickly loses its luster when you have to constantly try contrive poor reasons to reduce humanity to an underdog. Again. And again.

I think some people are forgetting that, after Halo 5, humanity is the underdog again. The Infinity is a powerful ship, but under the circumstances, it can’t be fully utilized against Cortana, or whoever the “big bad” might be. And proper backup for it basically doesn’t exist. A BIG, meaningful sacrifice could justify the possible loss of the Infinity.

I like the underdog position of humanity in Halo. They aren’t fighting for pride, and every victory feels more important. It also helps the player feel more important. The player is the one humanity is relying on, which plays into the whole “hope” theme Halo has. You are that hope.

This. As stated, the Infinity is a powerful ship, but it’s just one ship. Well, its one ship and a couple of escort frigates, but I digress. Point is, that she can pack a punch but she isn’t invincible. Dealing with a rag-tag group of mothballed Storm Covenant ships is one thing, dealing with Cortana’s Guardians or Atriox’s Banished would be something else entirely. The stakes are high enough.
