Because Cortana is over seven years old(the age a smart a.i. as herself becomes corrupt due to information overload), I think she is going to die in Halo 4. If you saw Halo Legends, as I am sure you have, you can see Cortana flicker red near the end of origins part 2. This leads me to suspect that the effects of her corruption are begining. Her encounter with the gravemind probibly didn’t help either. Am I the only one that thinks of this?
Why do I often see threads that at the end of the OP it says “Am I the only one that thought of this?” Obviously you are not the only one, I have seen at least 10 other threads about this.
On topic, I think chief will try to find away to save her.
Maybe the Forunner world has something that can stop the efects of corruption.

I feel like they will do something to keep her alive… If they kill her then it won’t be until Halo 6.
According to “Reach” cannon (I believe), Cortana is the first of her kind. I believe halsey says in the campaign that she should last much longer than the standard 7 year lifespan.
Halo 4? Maybe not.
But what I believe is that Cortana will have enough knowledge to create new tech for Chief.

Nope. Cortana was the most advanced A.I. ever created by Humanity, but she is still susceptible to rampancy. In point of fact, all that information she aquired from alpha halo may have shortened her lifespan.
Now, there is a fourth stage of Rampancy known as “meta-stability”. Medicant-Bias reached this, and it seems, to me at least, Cortana will. I doubt she will die any time before Halo 6, but we may see the effects of rampancy in her over the course of the next Trilogy.

Cortana is nowhere near 7 years of age she was made at the end of reach (in 2552) and halo 4 is not at all that long after halo 3 but all the other causes of rampancy have been encountered by her like gravemind can provoke rampancy and alot of time to kill but nothing to keep her ocupied can also provoke rampancy

I’m pretty sure Cortana was made around 4 years before the fall of reach, not fully sure if it was 4 years but I know it was way before reach fell. The Cortana that 6 is given is just a peace of Cortana that contained info from the artifact, the rest of Cortana was already on the POA. If you read the books it talks about when chief meets Cortana and its way before reach falls.

343 isn’t stupid enough to finally give her character development and then kill her off.

doesnt cortana say in the game or in a trailer to it that she “was commissioned over 8 years ago” and that AI’s are supposed to deteriorate after 7?
Go watch Spartan Ops episode 5. When the “Promethean Soul” containing all of the people from New Phoenix activates and flares, you can see a female shape rise out of it for a split second. Really surprised that I wasn’t seeing tons of comments about it, I mean what else would that be hinting at?
