Try to submit a ticket to the support team.

Same thing has been happening to me. It seems to be happening as soon as it tries to sign me into xbox.

Edit: Ticket subbmited, Ive attatched and image and a dxdiag file. Hopefully this issue gets resolved soon.

I got a fatal error twice since the update, both on the same night. They both happened on Multiplayer while loading a H2A game, so that was two bans right there.

I did submit a ticket and screenshots of the file that caused the crash from the Event Viewer, don’t remember the crashes happening before this update.

Obvious thing is to contact support, but I may be able to help you:

  • Is your stuff fully updated?

  • When did you update?

  • Tried with EAC disabled?

  • tried older GPU driver?

  • Disabled overlays (Steam, Geforce Experience, Rivatuner, ReLive, etc.)?

Here’s what I did to get it to work. The first step might be unnecessary but it’s what I did.

  1. I was logged into the Xbox App on Windows. I logged out. If you don’t have the app installed then don’t worry about this step.

  2. I signed into the Xbox Live Website - https://www.xbox.com/en-US/live and then logged out.

After that I launched and was able to login successfully. I think the issue has to do with the account sign-in having a hiccup and the MCC doesn’t know how to handle that gracefully haha. I’d also say if there’s anything else you might be logged onto xbox live with (like a phone app, etc…), then go ahead and log out of it too.

Good Luck!

I just tried launch MCC on my PC for the first time in months and got the same “Fatal Error” right after the “Press Enter to Continue” message during the launch.

I had just downloaded an update. I also went into properties and validated the local files. No errors were found. I have rebooted and still get the same error

For anyone who is having the Fatal Error on launch (for pc), here is what I did to fix it.

  1. Open “Credential Manager” from the Control Panel.
  2. Click “Windows Credentials”
  3. Scroll Down until you find Xbl|DeviceKey and Delete it.
  4. Load MCC Once again and you should be fine.

Steam PC Version:

Sorry Bud that does not work, Ok I deleted that file ( Xbl|DeviceKey ) and booted up the game. I was asked to log back in and did. Now after I went back in the game then I shut down the game. Went back into “Windows Credentials” and guess it it was re-installed. So my question what makes you sure that it works when the file “Xbl|DeviceKey” in automatically being re-installed?

Thanks
Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

Getting this every single launch now on MS account sign in. Has never prompted me to constantly sign in until this week, and I’ve gotten a few errors on launch this week but not every single time like it is now.

This fix in the quote is what finally fixed it crashing every single launch. Thank you!

I keep getting the fatal error message and ive done all the recommended things online, but none work

Same here, tried everything that i found on the internet, nothing is working. Have you gotten it fixed yet?

It would be useful if everyone here could share their PC specs (CPU, GPU, OS, RAM) and see what they have in common.

This is probably related to the people that have been able to solve the issue by signing out of other places (ie Xbox App, browser, etc…), but we were able to resolve our issue by turning out an Xbox One that was logged into the same account playing on PC (Steam version).

Seems to be an issue where if someone is playing on the Xbox One (Certain games, Minecraft for sure) while another person is playing Halo MCC on the PC (Steam) (same XBL account), then MCC will crash with the UE4-MCC Fatal Error message.
Spent several hours troubleshooting various Graphics settings, reinstalling the game, signing out of XBL on the PC, etc. Issue finally went away once the person on the Xbox One turned off the console. We then turned the Xbox One back on and loaded into Rocket League. This did NOT reproduce the Fatal Error MCC crash issue. We then loaded into Minecraft and once the game was almost finished loading in, the Fatal Error crash occurred on the PC again.
Once we closed out of Minecraft, MCC started working again.

I want to add some more info along these lines.

I tested this scenario as well and it is indeed correct. If I try to launch MCC (Xbox app, Steam) or am already playing it and then Minecraft is opened on another device (Amazon Fire tablet in this case) then MCC either A) errors during launch or B) immediately crashes with the UE4 fatal crash error. To take this a step further, I created my son a Microsoft Child account thinking this might resolve the issue. It did not. Even with my primary Microsoft account that’s linked to MCC when he launches Minecraft entirely with his own account the previous error scenarios occur. I hope this is just a bug and developers are actually trying to fix it versus it being actually what is supposed to happen. Because if the latter is the case then there is no helpful information at all that would point to a Microsoft account conflict. Any regular user that doesn’t perform advanced troubleshooting would be completely in the dark as I was at first until scouring forums and carrying out troubleshooting myself.

Still testing a few things out. It’s doesn’t seem to be account related since we created a whole new XBL account that is not linked to the other one and it still throws the Fatal Error. We have also connected the PC to a cell phone hotspot in order to keep Minecraft and Halo on different networks and this seems to solve the problem. Trying to think of what conflict there could be with them both on the same network.

Thanks for taking the time to do some detective work on this. In my case the event log showed that MCC kept crashing due to a memory access violation in bcryptPrimitives.dll (Cryptographics primitives lib, most likely used by XBL for secure handshake & validation).
Open a command prompt as Admin and run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management followed by the System File Checked utility:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow

This will repair any potentially corrupted or damaged system files.

I’ve had no crashes since.
