so I’ve noticed something. halo 5 is a very very fast paced compared to previous titles. there’s tons of maneuverability(not all bad) an small maps (main problem) which force more competitive fast paced gameplay this coupled with sprint (which makes you feel like your going fast but actually punishes you as soon as your in a gunfight by making you take a sec to readjust your weapon putting you at a disadvantage)this has created a new faction here on the forums a faction of players who don’t like the new competitive aspects of halo 5 they want more social playlists. perhaps for social playlists we just slow down the gameplay from such a breakneck speed. I feel like in arena there’s something wrong if I don’t find a gunfight like instantly. also it sorta spawns me like 5 feet from my dead body. that doesn’t help. just because a game is fast paced doesn’t mean it’s good. one of the things I enjoyed about halo was that the pacing was a bit slower an more forgiving then other shooters. no their wasn’t always something happening but thats not a bad thing. I’m not saying the gameplay should go to a crawl but maybe the first step towards appeasing those who want a slightly more casual less sweaty halo is to cut the throttle back on the pacing actually let your players take a deep breath an think… I like halo either way but there is definatly a marginalization of the casual players. halo 5s BTB has changed for the worse towards more competitive an less vehicle based gameplay which is was never about. I felt like that was 343 trying to funnel old btb lovers into there WZ cash cow. it just seems like the casual modes are more competitive. an before we get captain obvious who is like “are not all games competitive?! HMMM???” smash bro’s with items comes into mind. it’s competitive in the sense of both players are still trying to win an skill still counts. but there are elements in their that at their core are simply there for maximum fun. an normally elements like these also tend to shrink the skill gap. not everyone can be god at halo an in a “competitive enviroment” elements that shrink the skill gap are shunned while things that widen it are welcomed. some players are there for a good time. a romp! competitive players don’t want a romp. they want everyone to be on even footing all the time. so if you want to appease the halo casual faction bring in more fun uncompetitive aspects to halo 5 slow down the pace a bit etc. call it legacy mode. etc. I hope I’ve made sense here I just had some thoughts an wanted to share them. I don’t hate competitive or casual halo I just wanna find a balance
It’s a function of the new fluid and easy traversal of the maps, being able to speed up with sprint and slightly faster TTK with high RoF weapons and really good hit detection (slightly generous bullet magnetism).
I personally would prefer a slightly slower iteration, including slightly slower TTK as the main factor (mainly through weapon RoF), I think they’ve got hit detection and aiming at a sweet spot.
Had they actually made more maps bigger it would be imo… but the maps seem to be the same size or maybe even smaller… Add that with the smaller radar yeah that can mean not much fun.

Tl;dr.
Halo 5 makes me feel like I’m playing Halo 2 on acid.
