'Fast Track' useless after hitting SR-130.

Hey there community. I was wondering about the ‘Fast Track’ package in the Pioneer specialization. Haven’t found any other thread about this, so here is it. The headline nearly says all, but I am going into detail now, if you want to read it. ^^

The ‘Fast Track’ tactical package allows you to advance quicker in rank. The effect means, as long as you have it equipped in the tactical package slot, you earn more exp than usual (around 10% more).

You unlock it when you hit Pioneer-10. That means, the earliest rank when you can unlock it is SR-60. So you have 70 Ranks to use it (to be precise, only 61 ranks, since you jump from SR x0 to x1 when you select a new specialization).

My problem is: when you reach SR-130, the ‘Fast Track’ package becomes completely useless and a waste of space in the tactical package selection. So the game leaves you with only 8 (mostly useful) tactical packages, instead of 9.

Why doesn’t have the ‘Fast Track’ package any other effect?

Maybe a effect like ‘‘Plasma weapons take longer until they overheat and cool down faster(Plasma Turret excluded)’’ (since Pioneers might know how to optimize the technology).

What do you think about it, and, do you have any suggestions for an extra effect?

Thanks for reading and sharing your opinion

You make a good point,

I stopped using it after SR-130. It does seems a rather odd package when you think of it…

It shouldn’t have been classified as a Tactical Package. It should have been in it’s own category or applied by default once achieving that specialization.

Plasma weapons gain a faster cooldown time with Dexterity, but I haven’t seen anything done about their ammo consumption (in this game, it seems to be 2x battery loss) or firing duration until overheat.

I stopped using it after SR-130. There is nearly no point for using it. You could use ‘none’ too.

Just had an idea. Use it in a playlist with forced loadouts, like Slayer Pro. Everyone under 130 gets 10% more exp, and people on 130 have no benefit. I think, I create such a game type right now.

Maybe switch it with one of the Support Upgrades? For example ammo, or explosives.

And I did forgot about the faster cooldown time with dexterity. Firing duration until overheat gets affected by Gunner, but only on turret-like weapons.

The Ammo Consumption is a good idea. A Plasma Pistol uses 2% of the battery per shot, way too much in my opinion compared to the damage of a single hit (you need 12 hits to kill a Spartan).

Change Fast Track with Explosives and add your idea? Would be cool.
Ammo and Fast Track should be in the same slot then, otherwise you would have way too much ammo compared to other non-plasma weapons).

So don’t use it after SR-130? I don’t get the issue here. Pick a useful one in it’s place.

me too i stuck with requisition

Couldnt agree with you more!

Hitting SR-130 too fast is a little useless as well. Pioneer was my last specialization.

I think the whole point of fast track is to FAST TRACK to 130. After you hit 130 you’re not supposed to use it.

I do. My point is, why is there something which gets[7u] completely useless? It’s a waste. There could be something else on Fast Track, which would make it as useful as the others.

Pioneer was my first, because of Fast Track. Was useless though, because I hit 130 somewhen in January because of the -Yoink!- Gaming Tournament (played Spartan Ops a lot).

Yes, it is the point of it. But can use all the other packages when you are 130 but Fast Track. That doesn’t make sense imo. There’s no point that the 10% extra exp are so incredible that you make it useless after hitting any level cap.

It is DESIGNED so you get to 130 faster. that’s all it’s supposed to do.

I’m ok with it as is.

I personally never used Fast Track to begin with. the most XP I got out of any game type was spartan ops when I would do the weekly missions in one day, but I never used any experience boosters of any kind, and I was still SR-130 by mid January.

pioneer never made sense to me. the xp you spend to get it is less then what you get back using it. what i mean is, you can get what you want faster if you ignore pioneer. unless all you want is 130, but there is no point in that.

Good point and thanks!

I think Fast Track is fine the way it is. It offers a 20% XP bonus at the price of not being able to use another tactical package. Once you’ve reach SR 130 (or whenever you feel something else is better or more useful than an XP boost), you swap it out with something else.

Really, I don’t see any problem with it other than people generally not being satisfied with what they have.
