I’ve had a blast playing the H5 Beta so far (especially the new gametype Breakout). If there was one major complaint I had though, it would be that the kill times feel too fast to me. If you’re caught out in the open at all (or in a sniper nest), you’re automatically toast, and there’s no way out. The faster gameplay is great and exciting, especially with the new abilities, but kills seem to have the COD syndrome of “I caught you off guard for a split second so I automatically win the entire fight”. There isn’t a craft to it.
I do understand and acknowledge that this is just my opinion, but I thought I’d point it out. What do you guys think?
I agree but people on here rather complain about ranked in an open beta. They dont care about things detrimental to gameplay
Ive been advocating a standard slower rate of fire nerf across all weapons to increase the kill times.
Honestly i think its still too high. When it takes me 5 bursts (each BR bursts has 3 bullets) to kill someone it makes me want to go play some other shooter instead. I like shooters to be in real time, not RPG-like where you’re chipping away health from a health bar. Shooters should be based on reflections and dexterity, endurance and fast decision making. Not slow paced shootouts that reward the person with most tolerance to tedious tasks.
Halo 5 could lower the TTK just a little bit more, and it would still be more bullet sponging than Battlefield and CoD.
Halo has been set apart from the rest of modern FPSs specifically BECAUSE of the slower kill times. If I wanted a game in which my success depended on how fast I can twitch, I would have bought any of the other games out there.

This. Because of sprint(stretched maps) trying to move from one area in the map to another is like running past a firing squad.
Kill times are WAY to fast. I like sprint now that I’ve gotten used to it, I like the sound and feel of the game( minus that dumb post match bro blowing they do). I play halo because a superior player can get attacked, turn around and kill the newb who dared charge you with a single smg. Now it’s if I turn my back and some guy farts on me I die. Halo was different from other fps BECAUSE of the kill times comparatively. Don’t turn halo into something it’s not. Keep all the changes, honestly they aren’t bad, but give us back our survivability. I will love this game if you do.
Sprint and thruster are the reason the rof on guns are faster as well as the frags behaving like mini nukes. I would have no problem leaving everything in and decreasing the rof of guns though. With so many escape options and a higher ttk noobs would never be able to kill me lelelelel.
The fast kill times are a bit strange to get used to. But Halo CE has some pretty quick kills (if you aimed for the head).
If they could bring that back to H5, I think that would be super dope.
