Tl;dr for the whole post in bold at the bottom. It doesn’t say everything I want to say, but it’s there for those who want it.
There have been many threads recently about how WZ farming is unsporting, and how teabagging isn’t. Controversy and agrument usually ensues. This is usually not good for a community.
I feel that farming is unsporting, since I don’t enjoy being farmed, nor do I enjoy being hated for furthering my goals without regard for collateral damage.
Though, instead of posting and/or feeding thousands of “Farming is bad and stop it now guys” threads, I report the perpetrators to the authorities and move on with my life. If you don’t just feed your Halo-driven rage fire, but do what you can to end it and move on, you’ll find that the problem may not be as massive as you make it out to be.
Teabagging is also considered unsportingby many. However, it can be concluded that the act itself is not considered unsporting by MS, given that it’s been implemented as a feature in two games they’ve either published or endorsed as “Better on Xbox.” For those who want to know which games, the first was H4, with the “Hologram -Yoink!- Easter Egg,” and the second was the “Humiliation” field order from CoD: Ghosts (ew). These are older examples, but still reflect MS’s
I see it as a minor brag for a minor victory. If this is unsporting, perhaps simply wearing the Achilles armor should also be considered unsporting. Or, maybe, the Helioskrill armor (if you got it through the achievement, that is). Or, even armor at all. Maybe we should remove customization unlocks altogether, and give everyone everything right from the start. This is, of course, absurd. It doesn’t mean anything.
I don’t do it often, since I’m usually trying to play the objective and have no time for it. But when it’s something like assassinating an Active Camo user as he sneaks behind his would-be victim, that’s a good time to go for it. Sometimes, the would-be victim will also join in. It’s harmless to those who can take a loss. Nobody means anything by it. That is, aside from angry kinds that get mad about you taking “their” Storm Rifle. As such, there is no need for threads stating “Don’t -Yoink!- me, you big meanie-pants!”
If you have a problem with an act that was encouraged by 343i (again, the teabagging Hologram easter egg in H4), report them, then let MS decide if it’s unsporting. Be sure to add “teabagging” in the comments, though, so they know that it was a super-serious offense.
Or, just grow up. Either or.
Tl;dr: If you have a problem with WZ farming, report the farmers and move on. No need to act like a middle-school student. And if you’re not emotionally stable enough to take an occasional brag from a fair loss… Well, maybe don’t go outside. You might not like a majority of the human race.
