Fancy Armor

I was customizing my Spartan in Halo Reach, you know, helmet attachments, wrist attachments, knee guards, chestpieces, utility, all of that good stuff. Then I started to think about how cool it would be to have Reach’s customization system in Guardians. I get it, having like 229 sets of armor make it so that there is an uncountable number of combinations for armor, but it would be cool to be able to add wrist attachments, knee guards of your choice and a few others. Or maybe all of the armor sets we have now can be different chestpieces, shin and knee guards, bracers, and codpieces, which I still think should be a feature of Halo 5. Who else thinks so? Or am I alone here?

Reach easily had the best customization in the Halo series. Unfortunately 343i’s greed means it will never be reimplemented.

What?

The req system. The only logical reason for the many blunders they’ve made regarding multiplayer. It’s why there’s hundreds of ridiculous looking pieces of armor that you’ll never use or even recognize in game, and an equal amount of variants of that armor that don’t have enough significant differences to be considered a separate piece of armor. It’s why there’s a dozen purple and gold visors that are only slightly different, why you don’t have all emblems from the start. Why what customization pieces you might get are randomized and in req packs. That is literally the only reason for Halo 5’s customization being the way it is that somewhat makes sense.

I think you should have read the OP before trying to post something edgy and clever. He’s talking specifically about all the little bells and whistles in Reach that were added on to all the armor pieces to make new variants. Which would equate to more things to stuff REQ packs with. Your criticism doesn’t make any sense.

Sorry, it’s been a long day.

You’re right about all the hundreds of pieces kinda blending together though. I think it would be a better design choice to focus that greed into the details of armor customization rather than having a ton of head/body pairs.

As nice as Reach’s in-depth customization was, I just see it as almost as redundant as Halo 5’s. Instead of having a different striping pattern here, you get a different little dongle on the left side of the helmet. Minimal difference if you ask me. I still prefer the options from Halo 3 and Halo 4.

If they had a mix of 5 and Reach in customization, we’d have the epitome. Different minor attachments, along with different patterns could yield innumerable combinations beyond what we could think of.

A little dongle that is probably useful if we can use it in the game which we can’t.

Agreed with OP. Would be nice…

I think they could add a few bits and pieces here and there.

Same Op

I kind of wish Halo evolved to a battlefield scale with different classes, customizable vehicles, different weapon varients with attachments that can prove beneficial to both armor, gear and weapons with a credit based system that relies not on RNG luck but dedication and skill. Maybe like a dumbed down Arma 3
