I am the only Halo player among my friends. We are a group of 4 and the other three are faithful CoD fanboys.
We are often caught in heated discussions about wich game is better, and my greatest points when explaining why Halo is better than Cod, and I believe that a lot of people’s too have always been the following :
Halo’s multiplayer is always changing, every game has entirely new features that the previous probably did not have and the next probably wont while Cod MW series is basically the same multiplayer with very few changes, except for…
Killstreaks. I dont even have to start by saying that they affect the game negatively in extreme ways, a problem Halo players naver had to worry about.
Halo also does not have Perks. I Always thought that was the greatest Halo triumph over CoD mainly because in Halo every player started the game as equals, giving a very nice, balanced game experience.
But Halo 4 looks so much like CoD that I cant even stand my ground in one of those discussions !
Even the KillCam is on it jeez !
Not that I dont like it, I think it is great, but CoD created it , it is a feature of their game, and halo does not need that to continue ssuperior.
And the specializations, or should I call them ‘perkalizations’ just got me that feeling like 343 said ’ DONT WORRY ! Your game is in good hands ! We’ll just get some of the competitor franchise’s distinctive features and put in the next game, but DONT WORRY ! We ARE listening to the fans and will make the game the nearest to perfect for the community!
I mean
In MY HUMBLE OPINION
I repeat
MY
HUMBLE
OPINION
I think 343i is worried about atracting the new public.
That is not a bad thing but when developers focus too much about that they end up by forgeting about every franchise’s greatest treasure: The fans, the legacy they have already coolected along the years that made the franchise what it is.
This is the reflex of Microsoft’s lack of investment in new exclusives, making it impossible for Halo not to become a purely commercial franchise.
My dear lost fanboy. You need to understand that 90% of the thing sin COD did not come from COD. COD is essentially a conglomerate of ideas from many games dumbed down so they work together. And really you shouldn’t be having this debate to begin with. Neither series is better its all a matter of preference and the COD/halo war needs to stop.
I know what you mean buddy. Out of all of the friends i have made throughout my life, none of them are halo fans. Just a bunch of COD fans, it terrible. But thats how things are, COD fans are the majority for some limited reasons. Why cant halo be the most popular game in the USA? Its been around longer than COD, and its unique.(or it was anyway) It deserves to be the #1 in the USA for the reasons listed above, and the fact thats not is just dumb. But my question is, why isn’t halo the most popular game in the USA?
> Yes, unfortunately due to 343, my argument has boiled down to “I like Halo more just because”. What else is there to say? They’re the same thing now.
You’ve got to be kidding me…
And due to 343i?
Nope. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but games take things from each other all the time. Its how the market works.
And its been 5 years since Halo multiplayer had a major change that worked. That shows something, things need to change. And the safest way to change it is to evolve with the market. Evolve with what is popular, something that’ll help kick-start the new trilogy.
343i have put a lot of effort into balancing and implementing everything.
The CoD series has been using the same engine since CoD 2 which is almost a decade old, that would be like Halo using the same engine from Combat Evolved but just updated the textures and made it run smoother.
With that said, im not saying Halo is better in my opinion the games are vastly different and offer different things i just think the CoD series has been ruined by Devs that are willing to push out cookie cutter games.

Dude you are 1/2 way right. Halo can’t stay the same multiplayer, say they kept all guns and slightly changed maps added no spartan laser no spiker or power-ups then every body would be somuch hapey… opp son of a -Yoink!- thats Call of dudy!!!
you see, if they never changed a darn thing then thats what tryarc/infinity ward has done with cod in modren warfare1 it was fun but it never f’ing changed! The only other cod that’s multiplayer was fun was black ops because it has AI/VI in it.

3 things out of the top of my head that Halo is differnt from cod
Vehicles=Only time cod had vehciles were #3,and they were the most horrible vehicles I’ve ever played in an FPS,not even joking. Forge=We can make our own maps, edit gametypes, etc. So much freedom and replayibility in this mode… Jetpacks=Vertical movement.Nuff said
> Halo uses skill CoD… it’s a different story altogether.
Halo doesnt require skill it but it does reward it, thats why theres such a varied community behind the series. CoD is an arcade run n gun shooter where one person can make up for the whole team, pick up any CoD play it for ten mins and youve seen all the gameplay the game has to offer.
Thats not a bad thing though as some players perfer a simple shooter where they can play without the hassle of worring about teamwork. Im not saying theres no skilled CoD players because obviously teamwork and hand/eye cordnation plays off in any game.
