343 Industries has absolutely ruined the home family gaming experience. At first I thought I was crazy for being so upset until other families started sharing their thoughts as well. I spent 6 hours watching HALO 5 LIVE and all of the interviews where people would say, “I played Halo as a kid and now I get to play Halo with my kids!” Why let us get all nostalgic and not tell those people they weren’t going to be able to play with their family? My wife and I wasted a day off of work like we do each game release and for what? NO SPLIT SCREEN? I feel like I have been absolutely screwed by 343 Industries and every single person that did nothing to stop them from omitting such a staple Halo feature. If I wanted to play Destiny I would play Destiny. I hate that game for the main reason I can’t play it at home with my family. Its fine to add new features to a game, but don’t drop the ones that made Halo a household name. Why would I ever think after 14 years I would have to research whether there was going to be split screen? Absolutely ridiculous. Be ashamed. Be embarrassed. There’s no excuse. Its sad we have to put in The Master Chief Collection to play together this evening.
No Split screen was announced WAAAAY back, I can find news articles back past July on this, how did you not know this before buying the game? Lots of families are buying multiple consoles now and with high speed connections more and more people are playing with friends online than ever before.
Sounds like you were just uninformed and want to blame the developer for removing something that really is not used as much anymore.
Don’t get me wrong people… Its my fault for not checking, but when you’ve played Halo since the beginning its not something you think you need to look into. I’ve learned my lesson. By the way, I’m glad to hear that so many families are doing so well that there’s an Xbox and additional game in each room. Sounds like a fun house where everyone goes to their own rooms and no one interacts. Xbox ONE was supposed to be the ONE box you needed in your living room, but now it seems like its every room.
They didn’t remove it lightly, I assure you.
It was just that the scale of the game made it pretty hard for them to integrate splitscreen in a way where it would work. Hell, even Halo 2 Anniversary struggles in splitscreen enviroments.
Maybe follow the game news/updates and check the back of box where it clearly states “Xbox One #of Players 1” or the game page in the Xbox Store…

yes halo 2 anniversary have framedrops to 20fps in some maps but my friends and i dont care , because whe have the choice to play toghther , in fact i build a beaver creek forge map that runs 60fps in 4 player splitscreen , 343 have taken the choice of our hand , and that is sad
I feel ya!
They need an update for split screen. We don’t care if the frames per second go down a little.
Why does it matter if it was announced a whilst ago? It’s still not right 343 lick -Yoinks!-
they looked at the numbers and saw how many people were really using split screen vs xbox live and it didnt make sense.
There’s an official splitscreen thread you can use.
