Fall Damage?

I just felt like making my own topic.
Will there be fall damage in single player? multiplayer? And will single and multiplayer play differently since you play as a different spartans (diff movement speeds, jump height, damage threshold before you die, etc.)?

Just so long as they make the fall damage hurt/kill only from a higher hight than reach, otherwise no.

honestly, no. It made Reach super annoying and dumb. There were no problems without it in H3, so why bring it back at all. The entire mechanic makes no sense, especially if H4 is supposed to be based after H3.

At the very least this. No fall damage makes no sense. Oh yea, shoot me in the face with a sniper… die. Run me over with a tank… die. Fall 200 feet from the ground jumping out of a banshee… live?

200 feet? Pfft, 200 meters! It was annyoing, but so was reachs incredibly low-fall fall damage.

If not, make it an option for customs.

Well I’m not sure about you but I had no problem working around that. That said, I don’t care if fall damage is less critical as Reach, I just want it to be there. Like I said at the very least, you should die when bailing out of a banshee at large heights.

I don’t see why. It was easy to avoid, and adds an interesting element to the game.

Dont get me wrong, i like fall damage, just not as extreme as reachs

What’s wrong with Reach’s? It’s less than Halo 1. Halo 1, you fall 7 feet and loose half your shields

Reach had fall damage because CE had fall damage CE had fall damage because of the health system.

Halo 2, 3, and i believe 4 has the not fall damage due to the armor thus the increased jump height. there two different system seeing as halo 2, 3, and now 4 has a different shield and health system most likely it wont be in halo 4. plus from the ViDoc there are some pretty high jumps and man canons so i doubt they well have it.

Actually H3 campaign started with master chief falling out of orbit and lived, just fine, thats the nature of the suit. It was added back into reach because reach predated the MC current shielding tech in H3. CE had fall damage as well, but shields were improved in h2, h3.

Yes and that too made no sense.

Just because H4 doesn’t have the health system doesn’t mean that there can’t be fall damage. Fall damage always took shields down first, so the same can be applied to H4.

But then why did halo 2 ,3 have no fall damage???
IM not say this shouldn’t be in Customs im just saying it doesn’t make since to bring it back if it’s a logical progression, from halo 3 to halo 4 ?

I like not having fall damage because it allows easier map movement. Plus, it makes you feel more like a bad -Yoink- super-soldier.

Yeah make the jump damage from a high height not a small one like reach.

Note: I’m just talking about campaign, not multiplayer.

Fall damage exists in H2 (IIRC) and H3. In H3, you need a lot of height. But the most importance difference is the lack of landing stun meaning you can start moving instantly after landing. The real problem is the stun you receive upon landing. It temporarily stops you from moving, leaving you vulnerable. In CE, this is negligible since you don’t really do anything from a higher position combat-wise. In Reach, there are opportunities to jump from a higher position and land in the midst of Covenant troops and assassinate them, all of them without being detected. But because of the stun (and other factors), this is highly risky and annoying.

If fall damage returns, I’d like minimum landing stun or none at all.

  1. We don’t yet know if fall damage is in.

  2. There will be no difference between the Master Chief and the Spartan-IV’s, gameplay-wise. Only difference is appearance.

  3. There was no fall damage in Halo 2, but Halo 3 had a very tiny little threshold between “no fall damage” and “death by fall timer” where you could lose like half your shield, and you could only hit that threshold in maybe a couple areas in the game. Otherwise, there was no fall damage.
