Fall damage; Yes or no?

The game was just more fun without fall damage, imo. I never had to worry about whether I’d lose my shields or not from a 20 ft drop.

I’m guessing you haven’t run off the side of the mid-Breakpoint spine, huh? If you hit the right spots, you won’t take any damage. Either that, or you’ll lose half your shields or something.

Campaign: Yes, but without the landing stun. That’s the #1 problem for me in Reach, I jump off cliffs for assassinations on high ranking Elites and if I miss, I’m dead because I can’t get the hell out of there. It’s not the damage I take that drives me nuts. It’s that I’m a sitting duck. Really slows down gameplay.

It wasn’t a big deal in CE since there wasn’t any reason to do any of that high risk stunts since I could sneak around and fight normally and had marines as backup. I can’t tolerate standard Reach combat. It’s what drove me to seek unconventional means of killing the Covies. Assassinations are the only killing means that I get satisfaction out of.

MP: No.

No fall damage.

Meh, I wouldn’t mind one way or the other.

Whenever I fall from high heights I either die or just land safely. It’s random, and half the time lag gets you killed.

We best not have it.

I kinda want it back it was in Halo 2/3 style it was understandable in Reach, and Halo CE because of the technology and the fact they didn’t have Spartans 2s suits at the time and the S3 in Reach were just upgrade for Noble Team only.

I think it also depends on how the jetpack would play in mp. Is it going to be like the reach jetpack I would prefer fall damage. If the jetpack would be a short boost for higher jumps I would say no. It’s also depends on the mp maps because if ther’s going to be a map with a tower like spire, fall damage is definatly a must.

No fall damage, just some shield flicker, a dull metallic thud and a small grunt as the Spartan lands, that is all, no real damage no matter what the height.

reach fall damage that was the best but maybe there should be someway to prevent fall damage dont know how :stuck_out_tongue:

> Jetpacks…

343 never said the word “jetpack.” They are also heavily enforcing that they’re “thrusters.” So, it’ll most likely be a small jump boost, or a double jump. Most likely nothing like Reach, that would rely on fall damage.

Or maybe a mechanism to prevent heavy fall damage?

I like fall damage to an extent…
I would imagine that the fall from the top of spire should kill you, but the fall from the top of sword base should only take out most of your shields.
So, like Reach but a lot less sensitive

As long as it doesn’t kill you I’m fine with it.

Frankie/David/any other 343 employee, if you lurk, can you confirm/deny fall damage? It couldn’t hurt…

Whut.

> Please tell me what you thing about fall damage for Halo 4.

Mega64 reference?

No I don’t want fall damage in Halo 4. It ruins the flow of the game.

Calling Reachs fall damage light fall damage is wrong. Sometimes I jumped from top Swordbase and I died and sometimes I survived. Reachs fall damage system is -Yoink- and need to be removed. I also think it’s not canon, because they have this gel inside there armor which would go hard and protect them, see Halo 3 Intro and end of Long Night of Solance.

Yes, no fall damage .
Just provide the option in Custom games though.
