I tried searching the web and got information back to the summer and differing answers. So my question is simple, is fall damage present in Halo 4 or not?

From what I heard, it’s this.
Fortunately, you are very unlikely to encounter it on foot. Unfortunately, it’s still there – limiting the potential of certain situations and ultimately dumbing down select encounters. Not to mention, it limits the versatility of future map packs. Luckily we have an option this time to turn off that abomination of a gameplay mechanic.
you can chose if you want fall damage or not
Fall damage was used to balance jet pack in reach (still unbalanced imo). now that the jetpack is significantly nerfed, I don’t feel it’s needed. I liked being able to jump off a building in previous titles.
Yes, there is an option to turn it on or off.
Which is what many of us have been asking for, rather then demanding it be taken out and force upon everyone.
You can turn it off or lower/raise it’s punishment in Customs by editing Player Traits. As for if it’s in Matchmaking, I don’t know.
Like others have said, its still in Halo 4 but not as punishing and you also have the option to completely turn it off.
It is kind of odd that Noble six can enter atmosphere and crash to Reach and survive… He never had a special kit that I know of so I do not really get why there was fall damage

He did, actually. There was a parachute-like reentry pack attached to his back that can be seen in the end cutscene of Long Night of Solace.

alright thanks dude, I had a feeling and I remember seeing something in the cutscene, I was just a little skeptical.
Yeah, but it’s not as bad as Reach, and you can disable it in Custom Games and Forge.

He also locked up his armour. All SPARTANs can do it, the Chief does it at the beginning of Halo 3. It is like armour lock but more lasts longer and you are vulnerable for a bit (until you unlock your armour) after landing.
yeah I mean I’ve read all the books and all that, so I understand the backside of it, I just meant from a gameplay perspective I did not think the spartans should suffer too much fall damage because they have endured a lot worse.
