I’m not fully committed to this idea, but what if Fall Damage was only present when falling distances like from the top of the Spire? I mean, in 90% of gameplay I think fall damage shouldn’t be present, but when I think about the added intensity of the Spire from Reach and how you had to use the vehicles rather than just jumping off, I think that if there are maps with huge cliffs (primarily BTB and Invasion) that we shouldn’t be able to just leap off the edge and gently land on the ground.
Maybe when leaping off very high cliffs, the player’s fall speed will increase and increase, and then when the player lands there will be a thud and the shields will be popped. The reason I’m suggesting this is to promote vehicle use and also to give drastic landscapes more of an effect on gamplay.
Nah, I don’t want fall damage back. If there was a map where you can jump and fall from an incredible height, like the spire, they can at least make it look more realistic if just before you reach the ground, those little thruster things on your shoulders activate to slow you down or cushion the fall.

That’s a genius idea. When falling from a great distance, they open up automatically and keep your fall from accelerating. Seriously that’s good!

Those thrusters are only for zero-G dude, they won’t do jack Yoink! in atmosphere.
Maybe since Frankie all ready announced destructible environments in H4 maybe when you crouch before you hit the ground, you create a small crater in the ground and your spartan kneels down on impact from a very high fall. Thus, absorbing most the damage adding to a more realistic affect.

> Erm… destructible environments? Source please?
I can’t find the article anymore, but it’s in my OXM right here and I quote,
“There will be destructible elements in Halo 4, but don’t look for a game mechanic that relies on it heavily. This is a Halo game at heart.” -Frank O’Connor
