Falcon Propellers

There is a serious issue concerning the Falcon propellers, mainly dealing with xbox live related situations. As we all know, one of the many cool properties of the Falcon is it’s ability to kill players with the propellers. Unfortunately, this heavy piece of machinery is unbiased in which players it decides it will kill, and often times this brutal method of killing is exploited by members of the same team.
I recently made a return to Halo: Reach and I have had a blast; though against my own will, I have been booted from a few games. Today alone I have been kicked from the match twice for “betraying” my team members.
On the popular Big Team Battle map known as “Abridged,” both teams are supplied with Falcons at the top of their base. Piloting one of these Falcons, I sit idle waiting for my teammates to man the guns, and due to players who jump up via man cannon or people who sport the jet-pack, I have fallen victim to an unjust resolution to be removed from the game. I imagine this is not an obscure tactic and this cruel method has been utilized by many players.

I am here to petition a change to the Falcon propeller betrayals for the good of all Halo: Reach players.

What the heck are people doing next to the propellers?

i can honestly say that i’ve never run into that problem and don’t really see how it IS a problem…other than stupidity on your teammates’ part.

The problem is that players are purposely jumping into the propellers to force a betrayal boot against the pilot.

well honestly, there’s not really a “fix” for that. i mean, that’s no different than your teammates jumping in front of you when you’re driving a hog, jumping in front of your rockets, running over grenades, etc.

Just because you can’t think of a fix for this issue doesn’t mean that it doesn’t warrant one. Do you honestly think half, even ninety percent of the people at Occupy Wall Street have any idea of how the problem they’re protesting should be fixed?

A player jumping in front of your Warthog or jumping into your rockets is certainly more avoidable than someone jumping onto your Falcon propellers. The faster you move as a pilot, the faster they die.

Yeah it is a bit of the problem, however it doesn’t happen much, I’ve got 1000+ BTB games and about 20 deaths (19 from teammates). The main problem is on abridged they take you over the blades, however in the new version of the map the lift is inside so this wont occur much anymore.

okay so fine, it’s your problem - what do you suggest is done to fix it?

and if you’re having that much of an issue with people throwing themselves at the falcon props, don’t pilot the falcon.

They should just turn off friendly-fire.

I can honestly say I have never run into this issue. And I play Big Team a LOT!

But what do you suggest to fix it if you think it’s such a big problem? Not trying to sound rude or anything, I’m just curious.

> They should just turn off friendly-fire.

this has been hashed out in other threads but no, they should NOT turn off friendly fire.

How many issues do you apply this solution to? What an absurd response to tell someone that they should completely avoid one of the most entertaining components of this video game.

As for fixing it, I don’t know whether turning off friendly-fire would work. I’m not a programmer. I don’t know what they can or can’t do to solve the problem, but I’m not going to lay down and keep my mouth shut about an issue that complicates my ability to do something that I find enjoyable. But what I can ask is that the authorities on this forum take notice.

> They should just turn off friendly-fire.

I’m not going to argue this here, as it’s been done in several other threads. But in short: No.

Sorry if this ends up being a double-post, I didn’t hit refresh after my last post

Might I suggest leaving a post in the feedback thread? I don’t think the engineers really take note of anything in random threads. But I have noticed people are listened to in that thread!

in 4 343 needs to have the ablity change the boot mechics easyly, with patches + others

well the way i see it, you have 2 options. you can continue to pilot the Falcon and run the risk of having that happen again (and frankly, you’re the first person i’ve seen complain about it happening on a fairly regular basis) or you can not fly the bird and not get the betrayal. it’s really a simple choice.

you’re absolutely right - you should speak up about issues that you encounter. but you should also be willing to provide solutions to those problems instead of having everyone else think for you. if you find that it’s such a common problem then surely you must have some idea of what could eradicate it?

I appreciate this. I was directed to this forum from the Bungie.net forums and as such, I’m obviously quite new to this site.

You can find me in the new topic.

Welcome to Waypoint, then!

Why exactly wouldn’t friendly-fire being turned off not be an option? This would solve so many issues, and I really can’t think of a negative.
