… needs to happen…
Not going to happen, The Halo Engine’s way of storing data doesn’t allow that, so keep dreaming man.
BS Angel said that forge list was incomplete, so it’s possible the second vehicle is flying and in there somewhere.

its in the campaign

FACEPALM!
Let me explain this.
Halo’s Engine stores it’s data in .map files.

In each of those maps has it’s own data base of what’s in those maps.
Lets take Sand Trap, it has the elephant in it, but let’s look at Avalanche, is has no elephant, and Avalanche has the snow skinned vehicles, where as sand trap and other maps don’t
Campaign in Halo 3 has the invincible powerup, MP maps doesn’t.
Yes the Falcon is in Campaign, but if it’s not in the .map files that makes up each campaign, Spartan Ops, and MP maps, post launch you can’t take a vehicle, weapon, or object and then add it to it, even if it’s in another map.
Other games can add vehicles, weapons, objects, and armor/skins, because their engines stores it’s data in a directory folder instead of it’s map files. Halo stores it’s data in .map formats, not in directory folders like other games.
Too long to read? Short answer: If it’s not in the .map file when released, it’s not going to be added afterwords so don’t ask, it’s not going to happen, /thread.

You don’t need to be that hostile. A large amount of the Halo engine’s workings are public knowledge, but “public” does not imply “common” or “easy to locate”. :\

I’m sorry, I forgot that not many people understand the workings of Halo’s engine.
And it bugs me when people us the “Well it’s in Campaign” excuse.

Well, how are random people like me supposed to know how a video game engine works? Stay calm…

Its funny because although vehicle infromation is stored in the .map file it does not mean that a new vehicle, like the falcon, could not be added in a TU. In fact it would be quite simple to add. 343i would have to release a TU that requires a re download of the 3 forge-maps (and any other map that they wish to add the falcon to.) Because the Multiplayer already requires 8GB of HDD space its apparent the MM Disc information(this inculdes the .map files) are stored on the Hard Drive not the disk. Due to this fact a TU that requires the re download/update of old maps would be possible.
It really bugs me when people use the “well it’s in the .map file” excuse.

Dude, you’re a software engineer? Seriously?! That’s so freaking cool!
The whole reason why Bungie created the .map file system in the first place was to very easily allow for custom content to be packaged with map releases. So new maps with new weapons and vehicles won’t require an update of the entire game… just a map download.
Most games don’t work like that in order to cut down on disc space, but Bungie’s system allows for a high amount of modularity, even if that modularity isn’t being used to its full potential coughnocustommapscough
=.=
Fine I give up, I guess I’m wrong… tho would one of you guys care to explain to me why Bungie hasn’t added new objects to other maps? Explain that to me.

LOL
ucwhutididthar?
Anyways, its good to see that some human beings have a small bit of logic.
What you said is exactly right and thats why if 343i wanted to add the Falcon Via TU., They would have to require all players that play H4 mm on live to download updated versions of the maps. Now that all the map information is stored on the HDD and not the Disc, this should be much less troublesome than in the past.

Fairly sure some Halo 3 MM maps have had flood edited in on them for customs and stuff, and people have managed to spawn AI’s in from campaign aswell, it’s certainly possible for a game developer to do such.
Because the system was originally designed for the sake of CUSTOM mappers and modders. And we all know what happened to those types of people.
They did add in the new vehicle skins, which in any other game would have required a game patch rather than just a map download. Bungie didn’t want to add any new vehicles, because think about it, why would you add something new and introduce a whole new element to a carefully-tuned game? You would need to go through playtesting, balancing, debugging, and all of that in order to get it to function without angering half of the Halo community.

Err…I’m just playing devil’s advocate here buuutt…because…there…was no…need toPLEASE DON’T PUNCH ME!

And yet people are asking for the falcon and hornet.

I believe he is simply asking for it in Forge, though.

Your not completly wrong.
In past Halo games all the MM .map files were stored on the Disc by default. When you played on these maps, there information was “streamed” from the disc.
In Halo 4 all the MM .map files are also stored on one disc (the multiplayer disc) by default. However before you can play these maps, the game REQUIRES you to download this disc to your HDD BEFORE you can play any of these maps. So all players MUST download the .map files to there HDDs. Than when you play the game, the .map files are “streamed” from the HDD not the DISC.
This simple difference explains why Bungie most likely never added a TU that altered .map files on the default map and why it should now be much esier for 343i to update ALL .map files in a TU if they feel the need. The Xbox or the Xbox360 does not have the ability to erase, and write new information to a Disc. It can however erase and “write” new information to a HDD.
Now put the pieces of the puzzle together yourself…
> BS Angel said that forge list was incomplete, so it’s possible the second vehicle is flying and in there somewhere.
This. All we see for sure is the Menu of “Vehicles.” Then a written list of what’s in that menu. She might have very well kept several surprises from the detailed list, including a new and yet-revealed UNSC aircraft.
Aces up their sleeves, my friends. Aces up their sleeves.
Oh, and Koala, what you’re describing sounds as if it could also allow for future Armors and Skins to be added to the armory, correct?
