Fairer Playlists

Halo 5 is broken for the average player. If 343 wants their games to be solely for pro players then they are going to slide further into gaming obscurity than they already have. I just played 5 games of solo queue team arena and not one player was below a platinum 2… except for me. I had a teammate cuss me out and asked why I was playing ranked, my answer: “because it’s the only playlist to play objective game types!”. Please 343 fix this. The only people left playing this game are hardcore fans or hardcore players, make equivalent playlists for both groups. There are so few people playing this game now, there needs to be fewer playlists.

Let me suggest,
Social:
Slayer
Arena
BTB
Infection
Weekly feature

Ranked:
Slayer
Arena (if there are enough players for solo queue do we really need it? please explain)
2v2
Elimination
Weekly feature

Warzone:
Turbo
Firefight
(these two are really all anybody wants to play)

As a former toxic player, that sucks man. I agree that there should be a social playlist for objective games. I think we should also report the toxic players as they are the ones who are ruining Halo. I know, I was a toxic player. I regret it now but hopefully we can root them out and expose them. No one should get cussed out simply for playing a game.

like you said, the majority of people playing the game are the hardcore fans. There’s little point trying to balance playlists if the player base isn’t there for it.

Im a couple months Infinite will be out and finding a balanced match should be much easier. At the moment I basically avoid Arena in H5 if I’m playing solo.

“hardcore fans AND players” meaning average skill players who still love halo (legacy players like me and my friends who are all over 40 and have been playing Halo since CE) and the HCS type who basically treat is as their job. I know full well that the player base in Infinite will be huge and the skill spectrum will be conducive to just about everyone but until then, (which in reality we don’t really know when “then” is… they say MP will be available on launch but they also said we’d be getting a public beta and now with it being free to play who knows if it’ll be delayed) they can easily take cater to both remaining groups of players.

Looks like you have a 51% win rate in solo arena so don’t see an issue. There’s always going to be some variance in individual matchups, especially with the current small population. If overall you’re winning half your games, seems like the system is doing a good job.

Note — super fiesta party has CTF, oddball, strongholds as well and is always populated. The social modes can be as “sweaty” as ranked because everything in arena uses skill based matchmaking.

As a very average, 44 year old player I’d like to say that in my experience Social is worse than Competitive is. I usually place somewhere in the mid Platinum range when I rank, and I get far more mismatched games in Social than I do in Ranked play.

Fair observation, I guess it’s just that I rarely feel like i’m contributing to those wins. I remember one game recently I posted something like a -20 KDA but had two flag captures including the winning one in overtime and afterwards I got a DM from a teammate that said “gold trash”.

It sucks that you get some hate, but the world is full of people like that. Just block them and move on, don’t let them ruin your love of the game.
