I have xbox one and I just bought halo reach but when trying to play online it tells me that I’m not connected to xbox live and the gold I buy it today and all the other games work know that?
It can be two things:

If you bought a 1 month membership, these sometimes do not work with Xbox 360 titles.

Bug with Xbox Live/Backwards Compatibility.
In addition to what James said above, Gold sharing does not work for 360 games on One. So if another account has Gold, you can share Gold for Xbox One games but not 360 games. That‘s another possible reason.
