Failed to download data.

So I’m having an issue since downloading update where I go to download latest game data and I get a network error “error downloading data” with the statement “an error occurred while downloading the latest game configuration data. Online features may be restricted. Do you want to retry?” I say yes and it continues to fail every time and is causing me to not be able to play the game. Wondering if anyone has found a solution to this that doesn’t involve reinstalling the entire game, seeing as this will take 3 days on my internet.

I’m having the same issue. Error code 0x80070570. I called Microsoft support. It ended me up here. It’s nothing with my console. They’re saying its a developer problem. I hope someone finds a solution

My download got stuck after 9.39GB. I uninstalled multiple times and the install stops at exactly the same position. Error message is “installation stopped”, details has error code 0x80070570…

I’ve resolved the problem by brute force, by doing a factory reset of the Xbox.

I believe the installation file was corrupted, probably caused by an earlier update that I killed because it was not starting.
My reasoning behind this is:

  • While installing the game, the “Manage game” screen showed the download as 13GB, which is obviously wrong (I guess 13GB was the initial size). - When I uninstalled the game, after reboot, it reappeared in my installed games list.I’ve tried a few other options including system cache reset (= reset mac address, NOT cable unplug) and reentering my profile, but that did not work.
So far, every update of HW2 never started (pause did not work either) and I rebooted the Xbox, causing the full game install instead of an update.
I am now thinking this possibly corrupted it the first time and all subsequent updates had problems because of it.

Hopefully this helps somebody else as well…

Hey OP. This is an issue that I’ve had between patches (one patch it worked the next it didn’t, this happened multiple times over the last few months). I finally fixed it, but it was a tricky workaround. The best bet would be to wait for an official fix.

Can you check something for me to see if you’re having the same issue? Check your “user” folder in your main (c usually) drive. By any chance, is there an accent or other strange character there? I bet there is. This is what was causing the issue for me. I had a “á” letter.

Now, you can’t just rename this because it’ll break other apps, but I’m sure an official fix will be in soon. If you’re interested in a workaround I can provide it, but it’s a bit awkward and might take some work.

Hope this helps.
