I know that a lot of people would not agree with what I’d like to see in Infinite. But chaos is always a battle where victory is never assured for any side.
Still here’s what I would hope to see in Infinite. A giant mega war. Many factions all fighting each other. Chaos ensuing across the galaxy. Think World War II, on an intergalactic level.
UNSC + Swords of Sanghelios
Insurrectionists (In-Game for once) led by Ilsa Zane
Cortana + Promethean + Guardians
The Flood
The Banished
The remains of the Covenant led by Sali 'Nyon
'Nyon still has half of Jul 'Mdama’s forces from the end of Escalation. I’d like to see him fighting also for control over Forerunner artifacts.
Also bring Rion Forge and 343 Guilty Spark in as characters in game. Not as a faction that fights. But rather an independent party that on occasion causes trouble for John-117 by stealing parts and artifacts to sell/use/etc.
I really do miss player +marines vs AI vs AI from CE. It doesn’t has to be this fancy but something atleast that isn’t just player vs AI.
I dont think multiple opposing factors is what would be something that “lot of people would not agree with what I’d like to see in Infinite.”, unless you mean that by numerical, yet small portion of they playerbase instead of major portion (over 50%) of the playerbase.
Though that is what id expect playerbase would like to see, something like the flood, covenant & the UNSC forces in Halo 2 (as example, obviously there are multiple different forms of examples in different forms of media) but just in larger scale.
And from other viewpoint, I wouldnt be surprised that there would be such action in the gameplay of infinite given the apparent situation in the story.
Well in a thread I made called the primary and sub-factions of halo we have the Big 4 all the way from the first Halo game, the Humans, Covenant, Forerunner, and Flood I broke it down into the different categories.
Humans
-
UNSC - Insurrectionist - The CreatedCovenant
-
Remnants (Prophets) - Swords of Senghelios (Elites) - Banished (Brutes)Forerunner
-
Monitors (including sentinels as well as the constructors and enforcers from H2) - PrometheansPrecursor
-
The FloodI also brought up of a cousin faction to the Flood the Primordials which I went into some detail in this thread as well as others. They work and have goals so close to the flood with assimilating sentient life into combat forms that they are often mistaken for the flood. But it is something to fill out one of the big four that 343 has been ignoring.
For the entirety of the game, I certainly wouldn’t want it to be all out warfare. But I appreciate where you’re coming from and would say that I’d live for there to be segments where Chief has to navigate through all-out battlefields with numerous different forces all trying to gun each other down.
It’d be a really cool experience as long as it was spread out. If the entire game was that, I think the novelty would wear off pretty quickly and you’d be left with something that didn’t feel much like Halo from a level design and speed of play perspective.
I think Halo 5 had so many factions and characters that the writing was badly affected by it (although I think it wasn’t bad just because of that).
If 343 is actually already doing something like that with a large number of factions I hope they’ll pull it off right, but as much as I would like it, I would prefer them not to risk it this time.
