After hearing the multiplayer will be free to play, this made me worried as more microtransactions are in game. I know it maybe cosmetic only but still not good for halo as the point of halo’s rewarding system is to earn cosmetics, I’m alright with it in other games but not for halo. Free to play multiplayer feels like it takes away on something on what I liked about the other multiplayer halo games. I am more excited for the campaign.
Then I heard about the armor coating which is replacing the primary and secondary color option which is disappointing. If they added this feature but kept the primary and secondary color option then I would be happy and would not mind it since it’s good that they adding something new but replacing the old feature is what worries me. The armor coating I heard is implemented by microtransactions. I know you can earn them in game still but some people can just skip and buy it. The armor coating just feels more limited than the primary and secondary color option.
I am hoping that the playlists are handled more better, I didn’t like the fact in Halo 5 some playlists are only there sometimes like fiesta mode, I think it should just stay there permanently so anyone can play it whenever they feel like it.
Still haven’t seen the multiplayer reveal which worries me. I am still excited at same time. Are you excited for multiplayer or worried?

Not seeing a multiplayer reveal is due to the game being delayed. I don’t see it as a cause for concern.
343i have openly stated they’ve had to readjust their timing for news releases to align with the new release date whatever that may be. It’s all about building a hype train up to release.
It’ll come in time, whenever they next show Infinite it NEEDS to blow people away or they’re going to be in a spot of bother. Having 2 poorly received presentations for a flagship game would be chaos for Xbox.
As for armour coatings there was a tonne of backlash and I believe Unyshek tweeted that they’ve taken time to listen to the feedback from the community about the coating system. I’m hoping they’ll be adjusting how that system works due to the highly negative perception.
I’m not too worried about Infinite to be honest. I think a lot of stuff has been blown out of proportion so much.
A free to play multiplayer game is going to have MTX.
Considering the game is also on Game Pass too 343i do need some form of recurring income to support the game in the long term with free multiplayer maps etc. Just basic business in the industry.

Fiesta is permanent in Halo 5. The playlists that rotate do so because the population isn’t there to support a ton of playlists. If Infinite maintains a healthy population, it could potentially have more niche playlists.
Also, if you can unlock most things just by playing, I don’t see an issue with people who don’t want to invest the time and would rather pay for cosmetics.
I am both excited and worried. I’m excited because I’ll finally have a good new arena game to play, been waiting years. Nothing else really interests me, I’ve just been grinding Apex since launch. I’m worried because we might see another launch like H5 which Infinite really doesn’t need. We already know it’s going to be filled to the wazoo with mtx which will drive some people away but if we also had a barebones launch like H5? That’d turn even more people away.
Side note: I’m happy it’s F2P. I get that people associate F2P with mtx, which is totally justifiable. But let’s be real, they probably would’ve done the armour coating thing whether it was F2P or full price. The only reason it’s F2P is to get as many people playing as possible and then rake in the cash with mtx. If the game was full priced, way less people would play and they’d make less money overall. The reason H5 doesn’t have as many modes as some would like is because population is too low to support them. Theoretically, Infinite should have a bigger population to support more modes, even if the mtx is worse.

ah i got mixed up with mcc and 5, my bad, i just dont like the fact that some game modes in whatever one of them is a temporary mode where its only there sometimes
Microtransactions absolutely do not belong in Halo. Seeing that MP is going F2P has me worried beyond belief and my hope for the game is down to the bare minimum.
Cosmetics in Halo have been a way of showing off achievement or dedication, not that you were able to put mommy’s credit card into your account and pay $10.
Microtransactions at the very core disregard the entire point of Halo’s progression and player expression.

MTX are here to stay. It was only a matter of time before Halo succumbed. We’re heading into a new realm of gaming… where games have to survive on platforms such as game pass. You need to keep the money dribbling in to sustain the service… especially if you want the game to thrive for a long (10 years?) period.
I’m sure there will still be plenty of ways to show off your achievements / dedication.
And at the end of the day I’m delighted if somebody else’s mum wants to pay for my DLC and server maintenance.

Just launch a $60 game with the occasional DLC/Expansions

It will be a $60 game.
But that won’t buy a lot of DLC. It certainly won’t fund the servers and their maintenance.
And MS are pushing Game Pass hard. So fewer and fewer people are going to be forking out their $60 up front. Games that plan to service on-going content are going to need the alternative revenue streams.
So bring on the MTX. Get all those cashed up mums of whiney little kids to fund us some quality servers and LOTS of DLC/Expansions.
Not to say that I won’t make the occasional splurge either (assuming it’s something I want and the $$$ value is less than the grind for it).
