So a few weeks ago, someone mentioned Triple Team Slayer had “somewhat” working Exterminations…a long-coveted medal that ceased to function when Halo 5 released. It worked in the Beta but has not worked in any gametypes or playlists up until that specific point.
Well, I played a HEALTHY does of Action Sack yesterday…and Ive earned 9+ Exterminations now. All of them were in Husky Raid except 1, which was in Rift Ball.
it seems the prerequisites are correct in earning it, requiring an Overkill that results in a whole team being dead. Im not sure if it cant be obtained Reach-style (without Overkill but still wiping a team) or if it can be done on teams of less than 4 (Halo 3-style). For now I assume it works like Halo 4’s did, which is minimum team of 4 and wiping the team with an Overkill minimum…
It is awarded in-game now for these gametypes and even shows up in your medals earned on Waypoint stats, except it doesnt show in your Carnage Report medals whatsoever. Any chance on an explanation with whats going on with this medal, 343? Is it specific to these gametypes or an engine awarding it incorrectly? It seems like you guys are adding its award requirements directly to the gametype script and not the actual engine rewarding it which would probably explain it not being in the medals report…

Awesome to see the medal is back even if it was only in action sack and customs as far as i know, but as of yesterday still does not work on the carnage report. I got my first awarded Extermination in H5 yesterday in a 2v2 flag warm up in customs. So it can def be done against teams less then 4 and my friend and I who both got one accomplished it with an overkill. I guess medals obtained in customs don’t show on waypoint but thats cool no biggie, but hey big thanks to the forum team for helping bring back Exterminations and continuing to try and resolve the issues it has. As far as I know it’s not in Slayer or Arena yet, anyone have info on that? If so please link it if possible like OP, thanks.
On a different note since I was able to maybe get the teams attention here the Sayonara medal doesn’t work correctly either , no one I have ever talked to has gotten one. I got one once when exploring the rumored out of map adventures on Overgrowth in a custom ( I would never do that in a real game) . Anyways my point is maybe whats wrong with that medal is the map boundaries are not set correctly or something along those lines since the only way anyone has gotten it was from outside the maps boundaries. Def seems complicated lol since it is a problem with all H5 maps/gametypes. Extermination functioning in slayer/arena is IMO waaay more of a priority but I wanted to mention the Sayonara medal as well.

Exterminations all work and award on the Overkill. The condition that determines if it’s awarded is placed correctly EXCEPT it needs to be not JUST on an Overkill, but if all conditions are met on higher multi-kills as well sequentially. Right now, if you get an Extermination on say, the Overkill, and you build your multi-kill further, you wont receive another Extermination if you re-meet those requirements on say a Killimanjaro of the same multi-kill spree. Once that’s sorted out, it will work how it should.
As far as Sayonara, it’s awarded to you when you get credit for a kill when an enemy is “killed by the guardians.” That’s what happened on your Overgrowth custom. All maps that people are dying when they “fall to their death” is actually just touching a hard-coded insta-death zone. Due to this fact, it isn’t awarded in normal conditions like they wanted it to.

In my above post, to add some information, Exterminations work with the exception that they only get awarded 1 time per multi-kill spree. If I wipe a team with an Overkill and get awarded an Extermination and then continue on to say, a Killimanjaro, I could have the team re-wiped on that multi-kill and not receive the medal. If that can be adjusted in the scripting for it, it will finally function how it did in Halo 3 and Halo 4.

Yeah, the only map I’ve noticed you can do it on is Fathom, Coliseum, and Overgrowth; all that I know of. I’ve also seen a video that someone earned in MatchMaking playing on Recurve, involving a driver having an enemy jump in his turret and driving off the map.

So it can def be done against teams less then 4 and my friend and I who both got one accomplished it with an overkill. I guess medals obtained in customs don’t show on waypoint but thats cool no biggie, but hey big thanks to the forum team for helping bring back Exterminations and continuing to try and resolve the issues it has. As far as I know it’s not in Slayer or Arena yet, anyone have info on that? If so please link it if possible like OP, thanks.

I know you can shoot people falling off the map on Fathom/Coliseum but I don’t think you would get the Sayonara medal for that kill. I have def shot people on both those maps and then they fall off and I never got it. Overgrowth did work but that was because it was a custom and we were outside the map so idk if that really counts. The vid on recurve is def different do you have a link for that by any chance?
