Extermination is a fantastic gamemode. I really hope it sticks around and appears in future titles as well. Who’s with me on this?
What I keep yelling to my one remaining teammate when three of us are waiting to respawn.
For those who haven’t played it yet, you have to put down all of the enemy team before any of them respawn to win. The respawn is about 12 seconds, so from your first kill, you have 12 seconds to get the other three players. If someone respawns, you have to quickly get them before the others come back. All of them have to be down at the same time. It gets pretty intense. Very fun.

Long-term I’d like to see a new playlist breakdown that included this mode as part of a social mixed-bagged of round-based game-types (Breakout).
It’s a pretty fun game mode. I’d like to see it stay for sure.
Not as good as Mythic Shotty Snipes.
It’s also buggy – have seen two or three times already where you spawn in prior to countdown timer expiring and it counts it as a loss.
It’s great, but they need to fix the spawns, cause in one game I kept spawning in from of the enemy and couldn’t do much about it a couple of times and it was the difference between winning and losing.
I love it so much. I’d like a few more maps, to have it polished up a bit, and to move it to ranked. This is definitely a gold mine in terms of fun.
This game mode is awesome. Is like breakeput but with time límit. Sure is a keeper.
Definitely one of the better game modes 343i has brought to light in matchmaking.
I think the radar needs to go.
Too easy to crouch or hide behind corners and assassinate people. Also the maps are way too small for 20m so it’s probably better for it to just be removed.
Otherwise I’m loving it.
Agreed, i do think it could do with some tweeking, maybe omitting radar, apart fom that i like it
This is a fun game mode. I just wish people would use their mics! Makes it so much better.
The maps are decent. But the spawns do need some help.
I liked MSS, and I am eager to give this a try as well. I’m a casual player (read: I’m awful) but this feels less like a kill everything mode than a cat and mouse kind of thing. I assume the maps are small?

I have to agree. Extermination is a very fun game mode. I would love for them to put it next to Slayer and swat in the ranked area because you have to have skill. I would also love to try a btb version of this on a map like mercy and have responded timer 30 sec long. I love that 343 is trying new and fun things that I hope they keep.
They should make it a ranked mode in my opinion
Extermination was great and I was sad to see it go so quickly. Please make it permanent and I might actually come back and play a bit more Halo 5 than I have lately.
