Something I think Halo: Reach did extremely well was the level of which the player could edit their character with those playing as humans being able to modify almost every piece of their armour. I think this depth of customization should return but also with the option for players to remove their helmet with machinima mode to reveal a possibly custom face. This would really add to what the community could do.
I also think that it would be a cool idea to add custom weapon skins.
Custom weapon skins would be a nightmare for 343 to police and ensure there was no content deemed abussive.
Don’t do custom armor it would just be way to stupid. I prefer a more realistic type of game and having people running around as stupid characters would be really dumb. I do like the idea of being able to customize your spartan head to toe one of the reasons I love reach so much.
Custom weapon skins is a cool idea if done properly. While Doom’s multiplayer wasn’t that good, it still did a lot of things well. One of those things was customization. On the weapon front, it allowed players to change colors and paint type for each part of every weapon. So, for instance, one could have a blue stock and a red grip. It was nothing overboard like allowing symbols drawn by players, but still allowed a lot of control over appearance.
I really enjoy the customization aspects of… life, really, but all video games too. A lot of people have been advocating for the return of Halo: Reach-style Spartan customization. I think I support it for the most part as well. I can with certainty that I wasn’t a fan of the skin variants of the same armor type in Halo 5, and do rather miss the interchangeable component slots.
I’m not a fan of the weapon skins from Halo 5, but I’d definitely appreciate if there were abstract pattern overlays for the armor and a color wheel.
Something I’m surprised no one has ever suggested is custom armor skins. The way weapon skins are applied can follow the same suit for armor in such a way that all armor is now completely unique, even if the physical level of armor customization is limited. It would also be far less abused due to the layout nature of armor and movement of extremities. It would at most allow for noticable pattern effects on a Spartan’s armor.
Also, what level of ambiguity is there when you’re talking about “inappropriate” content in a game that’s already at the very least a Teen rating. Every game in the franchise has garnered an M rating with the exception of Halo 5. Infinite could see an M again which raises that question of what’s not allowed. Anything nudity-related could earn you an instant ban from the system, and I think that punishment knowledge alone would be a deterrent to not do it in the first place.

Yeah… well I think we all recall certain photos in Halo 3’s file-share that would beg to differ. I’d be interested to see how CoD (the first black ops at least) handled this and how much of a problem this was- I cannot remember for the life of me.

Doom has an excellent way to customise weapons and armour. I would welcome that, it is very good and allows everything to be cusomised, I especially liked the way base armour could change the look.
343i have aleady confirmed that Infinite will have Armour Customisation inspired by Halo:Reach. How much customisation that is, we can only wait and see…
Amusingly, when I first spotted your post title, an image came to mind of putting an armour on a Spartan, then sticking them on the famous Torture device “The Rack” and stretching them until they’re ten feet tall - now there’s some “Customisation” resulting in an “Extended Spartan”!
(Yes, I know, I’m “having one of those days…”, LOL!).

You gotta think though, that was back in the Xbox 360 era, and back then they could literally ban your file share and delete things if they wanted. There’s a report system for a reason so telling people they’ll be banned from matchmaking and could be forced a solid color for all accounts on that Xbox would be a deterrent from doing something stupid. In today’s day and age there’s better tools available to the devs and community.
