The update had generally good changes but I still don’t understand why the range was BTB only. The maps in BTB have such large open spaces and large buildings that the range isn’t going to help much, and Arena needs the range buff more. I am still so tired of having enemies pop up right beside me when in Halo 3 I would have spotted them, considering all the mobility we have now compared to H3.
And BTB should honestly have the radar bumped up even more, to cover the large buildings in most maps.
Why stop there, why not ask for permanent x-Ray vision to highlight all enemies at all times? Or how about an AI that yells “Hey dummy, turn around! Some dude is trying to sneak up on you!”
I thought that’s what playing on PC is for since my games of Tac Slayer are filled with aim bot hackers.
The radar just serves as a distraction and serves no propose other that to frustrate us. Considering a sprinting Spartan can close the gap of the radar range in less than a half second it is well and truly worthless. Take into account latency and you’ll be dead before your radar even shows anything.
This is what confuses me intently.
Halo has had a wide variety of radar ranges, but Halo Infinite is the smallest default radar by far! Which makes no sense.
Halo 5 increased the motion tracker range from standard, making it 35m radius as a multiplayer default. They did this because of infinite sprint, thruster packs, and sliding made mobility very easy to maintain a high speed.
Halo Infinite introduced the Grapple Shot and now Spartans are the fastest on foot than ever before because of it… and yet we have a range of 18 meters???
WHY?
This is almost as bad of a change as the Universal ADS that brought our targeting reticle back to the center of the screen.
Tactic Ops has pretty much assured me that people are way to dependent on the motion tracker in this game to gather good game sense when entering area’s that they don’t know if people are there are not. Can’t count the number of times people barrel right through area’s and get slaughtered in that game mode because they’re not the slightest bit cautious.
It coddles them, and fills them full of bad gaming habits that screw them over…
Motion Tracker is used for awareness of what is around you off screen and can be helpful in finding targets that are moving around on the floor above or below you. In Tactical Ops I find myself running laps around the smaller maps and sometimes not finding any targets, probably because they ran right past me and the both of us didn’t know we are right next to one another because of a wall or a floor in the way of a direct line-of-sight.
I like Tactical Ops but to be honest, it made me realize how long matches can be dragged out when you are likely right next to an enemy and don’t know it simply because you are not on one another’s screens.
You can be fairly aware of the area just by looking around. In tactic ops I even go as far as listening to where the enemy is a lot of the time because there is no motion tracker and it really gives me an edge in the fight.
It’s a common skill set that’s been in games since Quake that is useful universally in just about every single game in existence…
Heck, you can usually tell where enemies are with keeping tabs on where your team is on the map alone, since this game has a habit of respawning enemies on the opposite side your team is after they’re killed. Then you just have to note what area’s they might be approaching and ( in your head ) note the area’s that you need to be cautious where it’s most likely people will be approaching you from.
Motion Tracker just exists to really do that work all for you. But it’s flawed and stunts growth in players because it’s, essentially easy mode. This is why people are so easy to out smart in Tactic Ops. I sit in corners, listen to foot steps and can often melee people before they’re even aware I’m there as they approach. Duck and cover in area’s I know people won’t generally look as they pass for easy back attacks and what not as they try and chase me down.
It doesn’t need to go, but people really should be trying to figure out how to work without it in a sense so it doesn’t make them canon fodder in matches.
Big Team Battle you’re more likely to see people well before you even get close to motion tracker range, even after they extended it for the mode. There’s a lot of brush and what not, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out where they’re most likely going to be coming from. I don’t really use it in BTB because I honestly feel it’s not really even needed…
dude really can you miss harder
