Explanation on the Didact.

i can’t keep it out of my head.
i re-read the comics, chief plans on using halo to destroy the didact, he disables the safety protocol(whatever that means) ejects halo on to the planet, kills the didact with the halo. No where does it say he was composed , so no he didn’t Survive. Yet chief calls it “contained” can anyone explain?

The link is the only evidence I seen that says he was tricked into using the composer on himself. Visually you can see, MC uses the halo on him, not the composer.

shrugs

That is what 343 is going with. I assume crashing into the Composers as the Halo did made them malfunction and zap him.

But… It’s been stated on several occasions that the Didact is immune to the Composer due to his experiments on himself to attempt to find an immunization to the Flood. So why is the Didact suddenly vulnerable to them?

That is to 1 composer, do you think they tested multiple Composers at once on him?

Because that’s what the chief did with Blue team and maybe that monitor, and Didact got zapped by them all at once. It’s done and it happened.

Whatever the reason is, Bryan Reed assured us it’s coherent.

Actually it’s only stated on 1 occasion, and the wording is “will not work” not “immune”.

“Will not work” leaves room for a flawed composition.

I remember the terminal saying: “It will not work on my new form.” That leaves room for interpretation. For example that the composer doesn’t work on him as intended. but works nonetheless.

The immunity doesn’t seem to mean literal immunity. Chief is immune to the composer, but he isn’t unaffected by it. He fell unconscious when Didact composed the people at Ivanoff.

Not to mention that the terminals are subject to the Domain’s distortion, as demonstrated by Omega Halo being displayed near a series of Gas Giants rather than its actual location at the Greater Ark.

The Didact may have never actually said “it will not work on my new form”; the terminal may have just been distorted as ever. Furthermore, I can’t recall his apparent immunity ever being mentioned in Silentium.

[correctio] Shadow-Of-Sundered-Star is not ‘immune’ to composition, rather the Forerunner stated that it would not affect his current form… an interference effect of waves increases the potential capacity of the function… and so the five dormant composers cross waving would definitely overwhelming any resistance one could have.
