explain to me how this is a "casual" game

i have looked at the gameplay footage and i gotta say i think its MORE competitive due to the fact your not only competing for kills, the flag etc, but for weapon drops in infinity and the fact its faster pace. i gotta say it might actually get me playing regular matchmaking again if i think its more cometitive

im not having a go at people im just wondering what makes people think its casual multiplayer

People see it has things similar to Call of Duty.
People assume Call of Duty is a casual game.
People combine them together.
People come to the conclusion Halo 4 is casual.

Just opinions really.

When I think of a “casual” game, I think of games like FarmVille and the majority of Nintendo’s titles.

fair enough tbh i’ve seen CoD as too competitive lol… i only play zombies on black ops as its a good survival gametype

haha those games are really boring lol xD

A casual game is a game that has a set up so players can start out with an upper hand than other players (basically the lifeless players can start with better stuff than people with lives). Halo 4 will have this scenario. Halo 4 is for casuals.

i’d always thought it was
casual=plays for fun/not all the time.
competitive=plays for glory/always online

> A casual game is a video game targeted at or used by a mass audience of casual gamers. Casual games can have any type of gameplay, and fit in any genre. They are typically distinguished by their simple rules and lack of commitment required in contrast to more complex hardcore games. They require no long-term time commitment or special skills to play, and there are comparatively low production and distribution costs for the producer.

> Casual games are typically played on a personal computer online in web browsers, although they now are starting to become popular on game consoles and mobile phones as well. Casual gamers are typically older than traditional computer gamers, and more often female, with over 74% of casual gamers being female.

Casual Players = lots and lots of money.
Competitive = good fan base.
BOTH mean the game and developers survive leading to another game.

Take your pick.

It seems everyone has a different definition for the term “casual”. A defining feature of this never ending argument.

> It seems everyone has a different definition for the term “casual”. A defining feature of this never ending argument.

That’s because defining something as causal or competitive/hardcore is purely opinion

example:MLG wants competitive games to THEIR definition.Is it competitive?sure it is.does that make the game how it was shipped casual not at all although some think to think so but that is purely opinion regardless of what anyone says

The word to class COD would be mainstream, Halo was once mainstream though!..most of the people who play it now though are proper halo fans.

343 just want what use to be Bungies…everyone playing!

Simple mindset really.
“This game doesn’t cater to ME, therefor it’s casual and I’m using that word as an insult!”.

As far as the mentality behind the developers and most of the people who play CoD, it is far from casual. The typical “MLG Pro No Scope 360 Headshot”-type person plays CoD these days.

I don’t see how you could see the situation any differently.
