Can someone please explain or summarize halo story so far from reach 1 2 odst 3

Go to Halowiki and read.

why not go and play those awesome games?

i don’t how to sumarize it though…

It isn’t a ton of a great video but here you go! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIwnrIOqhO8
The story is much deeper and better than this guy explains, but it’ll get you an idea you can probably find a better one if you type Halo in 5 minutes in youtube. He doesn’t explain Reach but he does explain 1-3.

i don’t know where to being really, thats 10+ years of ignored memory which is going to be hard to re-call

I’ll summarise the games not the whole story.
it’s going to be very brief.

Halo Reach: Human colony under attack from covenant, planet gets destroyed

Halo 1: Ship fleeing from Reach discovers strange alien ringworld, ship gets intercepted by the covenant, ship crash lands on the ringworld. covenant release the ancient parasite known as the flood, you learn that the flood wiped out the people who created the ring, the ring was created to destroy all life so the flood would starve to death, you learn of more rings. Activating the ring would kill half the galaxy, crazy robot tries to force you to activate the ring, destroy ring and escape

Halo 2: Return to earth from destroying the ring, get medal/new armour, covenant arrive at earth, covie fleet destroyed apart from 1 ship, ship enters earth and activates portal you follow the ship through the portal to kill the covie prophet, he goes to another ring, you stop him from activating the ring, and kill the prohpet. you also play as arbiter, arbiter goes on various missions for the prophets before being betrayed and all the elites are attacked by the brutes, elites rebel and join forces with the humans, as arby learns that the prophets were lying about the great journey (Great journey meaning, when you activate the rings, they will all go to heaven e.c.t) you stop a brute from forcing a human to activate the ring, chief follows the remaining prophet back to earth leaving cortana behind. game ends

Halo 3: crash land on earth, get to base, base gets destroyed, follow last prophet through another portal, you’re on the ark (the place where the rings were made and can all be activated at once) find prophet kill prophet, a new Halo is being made, flood is released again, you have to destroy this halo to end the flood threat, rescue cortana from flood infested ship that you left her in, in Halo 2. Rescue cortana, blow up ring, arbiter makes it back to earth, you don’t.

I missed out ALOT here, but you asked for a basic summary, if you want to know EVERY detail, play the games or look it up on Halo.wikia

Master Chief (super-soldier) and his AI friend Cortana fight with the UNSC (human faction) to stop bad things like the Covenant (aliens) and the Flood (zombie aliens). They accidentally find a big ring in space called Halo (but not really accidentally) built by ancient aliens that are all dead because of the Flood. The Covenant want to blow up the Halo ring because they’re religious freaks who think it will take them to heaven, but the Halo rings actually destroy all sentient life to then destroy the Flood, so that’s bad news.

Master Chief stops the Covenant from blowing up the first Halo then some stuff happens on Earth and then they find another Halo and stop the Covenant from blowing that one up. Afterwards the Covenant find the Ark which is basically a super-Halo-thing which blows up all Halos, and you stop the Covenant from blowing that up and thereby end the Human-Covenant war, as well as stopping the local Flood infestation. Master Chief and Cortana barely escape through the portal that’s supposed to go back to Earth, but because they blew up the Ark, the Ark subsequently destroys the portal, sending MC and Cortana into a random vector in space. Five years later, Halo 4.

ODST

Play it, man. These campaigns are each extraordinary. Really. Although Halo 2 has become a rarity.

The covenant assaults Reach, the UNSC fought hard, but after a long campaign, the covenant near victory. what is left of NOBLE Team is recruited by ONI to transport a fragment of the AI Cortana, to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. Carter, and Emile (Two spartan III’s) are killed trying to get the fragment to the ship yard in Aszod. Noble 6 is the only NOBLE left, and stays behind to damage a covenant cruiser coming to destroy the pillar of autumn. Noble 6 is later overpowered and killed on Reach.

The UNSC Pillar of Autumn exits slipspace to discover a halo ring, and covenant forces waiting for them. When the Autumn’s MAC Cannon is destroyed, Captain Keyes orders the Master chief (John 117) to evacuate the Autumn, and take Cortana with him. The chief lands on the ring, as well as many other ODST drop pods and escape pods. Captain Keyes and a small skeleton crew crash land the Autumn on the ring, and are soon captured by the
Covenant. The surviving UNSC forces on the ring regroup and the master chief enters the covenant ship that Keyes is held prisoner on. The chief, Captain Keyes, and a few remains then escape the ship on a spirit dropship. The UNSC forces then go on a mission to find the Halo maproom. Chief then begins his assualt of the control room. Cortana then accesses the information. Chief then searches for marines and Captain Keyes, after they had lost contact. Masterchief then encounters the flood, a parasite that takes control of almost any sentinent being. Chief, after meeting 343 guilty spark, then finds the index, and returns to the control room. After learning that Halo is a weapon that wipes out all life, chief does not want to fire it, but 343 insists. after refusing to turn cortana over to 343, Spark sends his sentinals to attack chief.

I’m gonna stop there, I realize that 40 people have probably already answered. lol

If you don’t have the games and are not planning on buying them, check out their walkthroughs on YouTube or Game Anyone?. I personally recommend playing the games yourself because you get the intended sensation that you are the character you are playing as. The games were meant to be played and not necessarily watched. Some people tend to grasp more information when they play the games rather than watch them from what I have observed. But if that doesn’t change your mind either, I recommend YouTube channel SPEGIBBY215, since he has a walkthrough of every single Halo game known to man (even Halo Wars), and you can watch and learn the story a little bit. But if you want in-depth and detailed information, you can read the books. However if you read the books, you are going to need a very basic (at least) grasp on Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3, and maybe even Anniversary. The Anniversary terminals are very complicated for the Halo fan who has not read Cryptum and Primordium, as it can throw you off as to not understanding what 343 Guilty Spark is saying, although some terminals are more easily comprehensible. Halo 3 terminals just give a little glimpse at the Forerunners and their war with the Flood and the origins of the galaxy. You’ll have to buy the books, unless you want to read the whole thing for free by torrenting or whatever, which I do not advise haha. The comics are like the icing on the cake. From what I’ve seen, they mostly fill in the gaps between canon info and are not particularly creative (in my opinion), but still very interesting and fun to read! I don’t recommend watching the films (the live-action trailers, Halo: Landfall, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and Halo Legends) until you have a basic idea on the main game characters, although Origins should be fine if you’ve already seen Halo 3’s Legendary ending. If you’re like me and you’re too lazy buy absolutely all fifty and a half bazillion canon sources made by Halo companies, you can read Halopedia’s official summary of Halo here: http://www.halopedia.org/Halo_universe. Note: There is some non-canon content out there that still is official content made by Halo companies which include Halo Combat Evolved’s Legendary ending and Halo Legends’ Odd One Out. Peace out.

Universe Fanatic reporting for duty.

Reach: The UNSC military planet “Reach” is invaded by a massive Covenant armada. For a while before the entire planet was put into the war, special groups such as Noble Team attacked and countered the Covenant in key locations. Eventually, the Covenant armada overcame the orbiting fleetsm shut down the Super MAC Platforms, and glassed the planet. The Pillae of Autumn escaped the planet quickly carrying Spartan 117, being pursued by a section Thel Vadam’s Fleet of Particular Justice.

Halo 1 (Combat Evolved): The Pillar of Autumn arrives after a “random” slipspace jump from Reach at a large Forerunner ringworld called Halo. Immedietly attacked by Covenant boarding parties, the crew abandons ship as it crash lands on the ring. The Human forces, Master Chief (Spartan 117) specifically, then gather all the survivors in an effort to coordinate a counter effort against the Covenant landing on the ring. Captain Keyes instructs Chief to beat the Covenant to the Ring’s control center. He finds his way there nearly discovering the secret. He goes to an installation near and in the Library on the ring, releasing a parasite called the Flood and finding the Index. Nearly activating the ring accidently, they decide to detonate the Pillar of Autumn’s engines to destroy the ringworld, and Chief escapes in a Longsword.

Halo 2: The Chief returns to Earth and defends the Orbital Platform Cairo as the Covenant led by the Prophet of Regret arrive. As a Carrier passes defenses, the Chief goes to the ground to intercept the Covenant High Prophet. The ship ends up escaping, with In Amber Clad and Chief following right behind it through a portal that devastates New Mombasa. Meanwhile the new Arbiter puts down a Heretic rebellion on a station around Threshold, the gas giant where the old Halo used to be. The Prophet of Regret and Chief arrive at a new Halo ring, where the Chief gives chase and kills the Prophet just as High Charity and a massive Covenant fleet arive. The Arbiter gets the Index for the Prophets, but is betrayed by Tartarus, the Brute leader. The Chief, in control of a Flood intelligence, goes to High Charity to chase down the Index, but it gets away at the cost kf another High Prophet. The Arbiter heads to the control room where he releases Elite prisoners from Brute control, teams up with some Humans, and breaks intk the Control Center to kill Tartarus. The activation is stopped, but the remaining 6 Halo installations are on standby.

Halo 3: ODST: After Regret slipped away from New Mombasa, a team of ODSTs are scattered around the city on a mission they aren’t quite sure about. The Rookie, a new squad member, searches the city for clues of his squadmate’s whereabouts. He learns of their progress, fighting the Covenant and denying access to a vital ONI facility. He meets up with them as a new Covenant fleet arrives at the city. They rescue a Covenant engineer and escape the city as a carrier glasses the city, and the Portal to the Ark is slowly uncovered beneath the city’s ruins.

Halo 3: The Chief returns to Earth, falling out of the sky with a peice of the Prophet of Truth’s ship. The Chief meets up with UNSC survivors as they defend a base and eventually move towards a major Covenant position, the Portal. Breaking down Anti-Air defenses, Lord Hood (UNSC Admiral) attacks Truth’s ship as it activates the Portal. A Flood infested ship arrives, but Elite ships arrive to quarantine it. Together they follow Truth through the portal, finding a massive Forerunner installation called the Ark. This installation can activate all the Halos, and that is what Truth intends to do. The UNSC-Sangheli Loyalists launch a massive attack, locating the Control Room and breaching a protective barrier. They fiht through Truth’s last defenses, stopping the activation at the last second. Then the Gravemind and the Flood infested High Charity arrive. They need to stop the Flood, and a replacement for the old Halo arrives. The Chief finds Cortana and the Index in the ruins of Hih Charity, then goes to the replacement Halo. They enter the Control Room as a Forerunner AI goes rampant, but end up activating it and escaping on the Forward Unto Dawn, a Frigate. The Frigate goes through the portal as the ring activates, which collaspes the Portal. The Dawn is split in two, with the Arbiter making it to Earth and the Chief arriving somewhere near the edge of the galaxy, eventually drifting to Requiem, the setting of Halo 4.

There you go! You really should play the campaigns.

Oh, goody! Thanks OP!

I’m not sarcastic, I love showing off my Halo nerdiness.

OK:

Halo 1: After the fall of Reach to the Covenant, an alien hegemony who are bent on the destruction of Humanity, a Halcyon-class cruiser by the name of Pillar of Autumn crash landed on a mysterious alien structure called Halo. During an extended fight between Human and Covenant forces, a parasitic alien life-form called the Flood was release, turning the tide of the fighting and forcing the Covenant and Humans onto the defensive.

A biologically augmented human super-soldier by the name of John-117 (or Master Chief) ran into an alien AI known as 343 Guilty Spark, the self-proclaimed Monitor of Halo. Spark convinced John that the only way to stop the Flood was to light Halo. What the Monitor failed to mention was that lighting Halo would destroy all life in the Galaxy in an attempt to starve the Flood to death. Once learning of the Monitor’s deceit, John and his AI companion, Cortana, destroyed Halo to eradicate the Flood and save all life in the Galaxy. Spark fled to a Covenant Gas Mine at Threshold, also a Forerunner structure, where he inadvertently sparked a Heretic rebellion against the greater Covenant.

Halo 2: John returns to Earth in time to find that the Prophet of Regret, a Hierarch of the Covenant, had attacked Earth with a handful of ships. After fierce fighting in the city of New Mombasa, Regret’s carrier, the Pious Inquisitor, jumps into slipspace to a second Halo, known as Delta Halo, or Installation 05. A handful of human ships follow, with the In Amber Clad being the only one to arrive in time to stop Regret from firing the Halo Array (also the only one with John-117 on board). After assualting Regret’s palace, John finally succeeds in assassinating Regret.

After this occurs, the Covenant holy city of High Charity appeears in the sky over the Halo, along with a complement of warships. The ships begin to glass Regret’s palace, and John leaps into the water, where he is rescued by an unknown intelligence.

Fast backward a bit. Thel ‘Vadamee, the commander in charge of the fleet that lost Halo, is found guilty of heresy for failing to safeguard “the Holy Ring”. He is made into the next Arbiter of the Covenant, a warrior who is sent on seemingly suicidal missions in an attempt to regain his honor by dying in battle. The newly minted Arbiter is sent to the Gas Mine to quell the Heretic uprising. Upon his return, he witnesses the Changing of the Guard, a power-play by the Prophet of Truth, another Hierarch of the Covenant. Under the guise of the Elite’s failure to protect Regret, almost every major military position in the Covenant were taken up by Brutes, replacing the Elites, who had formerly held the role. Troubled but still loyal, the Arbiter is then sent to Delta Halo to retrieve the Sacred Icon, a tool that will light the Halo Array and send the Covenant on “The Great Journey,” a misguided theology that believes that the Halo’s fire will provide salvation. After journeying through the facility and retrieving the Icon, the Arbiter is betrayed by Tartarus, Chieftain of the Brutes, and is sent down a service shaft into the bowels of Halo, with Tartarus’ assertion that the Prophets ordered him to betray the Elite ringing in his ears.

The Arbiter is rescued by the same unknown intelligence as John, and the two meet up, along with Flood-assimilated Regret and rampant Monitor 2401 Penitent Tangent. The Gravemind, the intelligence in question, and also the near omnipotent guiding intelligence of the Flood, along with John and 2401 Penitent Tangent, try to convince the Arbiter of the Prophet’s deceit, whilst Regret protests and tries to convince the Arbiter that the Great Journey is truth.

The Arbiter, shakily convinced of the Halos’ purpose, is sent to stop Tartarus from firing the rings, while John is sent to High Charity to stop Truth from doing the same.

After a long flight through the Covenant city, which is by now torn by civil war, John hitches a ride on the Forerunner Dreadnought along with Truth, and the two speed back to Earth, with Truth unaware of John’s presence. Unfortunately, John is forced to leave Cortana on High Charity, which is now being infested by the Flood, as part of the treachery of the Gravemind.

The Arbiter manages to stop Tartarus, with the help of Sgt. Avery Johnson and Commander Miranda Keyes, human soldiers, officially forming the Human-Sangheili alliance.

Halo 3: John lands on Earth, where the Arbiter and Johnson wait to retrieve him in Africa. After fighting their way through the Covenant soldiers, they arrive at the head-quarters of the Human resistance on Earth, which is by now controlled by the Covenant. The humans and the Elites learn of the prescence of Truth’s Dreadnought on Earth, and his excavation for an ancient Forerunner secret. John and the others waste no time in taking off down the Tsavo highway to stop Truth.

Unfortunately, despite destroying a Covenant AA gun and conducting an airstrike on the Dreadnought, Truth opens the secret- a portal to an unknown locatian- and enters it with his fleet. At the same time, the Flood controlled In Amber Clad crashes into Earth, beginning to spread the infection on Earth.

After retrieving a fragment of Cortana (with an ominous warning) and glassing the town of Voi to prevent the loss of the entire planet, the combined Human-Sangheili fleet enter the portal to stop whatever Truth is doing on the other side.

The portal leads to an entire Forerunner world beyond the rim of the Milky Way Galaxy, a safe haven from the Halo Array, appropriately called “The Ark”. After fighting their way to Truth, the Arbiter and John-117 kill the Prophet of Truth and save the Galaxy… again.

Unfortunately, the threat of the Flood still looms. With the arrival of High Charity on the Ark, the Flood have begun to spread across the Installation. The Master Chief enters High Charity, by then a veritable Flood hive, and retrieves Cortana. They overload the city’s fusion reactors and destroy High Charity, narrowly escaping in a Pelican.

Afterwards, the Arbiter and John journey to Installation 04B, a replacement for the first Halo that John and Cortana fired, and light it to eradicate the Flood infection on the Ark, destorying the Forerunner world in the process. John and the Arbiter make it to the Frigate Forward Unto Dawn and go through the portal, just ahead of the Halo fire. The Portal closes while the Dawn is halfway emerging to Earth, sending the half containing the Arbiter to Earth and the half containing John and Cortana tumbling through Slipspace to a new destination. John places himself in cryogenic storage, recognizing that it could take years to be rescued, while their half of the Dawn is being seen tumbling towards Requiem, the setting for Halo 4.
