I currently reside in Hong Kong, and I have been trying to play matchmaking since launch. My experience with matchmaking so far includes unplayable lag throughout most of my matches (If I can connect), and I have experienced long wait times before connecting to games. I’m hoping that this is just due to the servers being overloaded at launch, as I never had these issues with Halo MCC (After it was fixed) and I was able to connect with people from Hong Kong and other areas such as the UK and the US without experiencing lag or any other issues.
I’ve already gone through a number of troubleshooting steps with Xbox support including resetting my internet, resetting my Xbox, and checking my network settings through the Xbox multiplayer statistics in which they advised me to contact 343 support after my issue wasn’t resolved. I also noticed that my ping to the Xbox live server in Seattle ranged from 250-300, this would cause lag when playing but only if I was trying to connect to servers in the US from Hong Kong (Although I’ve been able to connect to my friends in the US and not experience any lag)
My current internet settings
5G router (Wireless)
10 Mb down
30 Mb up
packet loss: 0%
MTU: 1480
latency: 287
Wireless strength: 100%
Any advice? I would be very disappointed if myself and many others were to be excluded from Halo 5 matchmaking due to geographical location and lack of dedicated servers to support areas across Asia.
