Experience System in Halo 4

The experience system was an incredibly-simple ranking system in Halo 3 that worked by giving the player 1 experience point (EXP) for winning a game, -1 experience points for quitting a game, and no experience points for losing a game. There were also playlists that existed in Halo 3 that allowed for “Double EXP”, which meant that the player would receive 2 experience points for winning a game instead of the default 1.

Would you like the experience system from Halo 3 to return in Halo 4?

Note: This thread has absolutely nothing to do with 1-50 or any other skill-based ranking system.

either this, or some variation of it. I feel people who play better should be rewarded better

Yep.

Crappy teammates will rob you of the exp you deserve. I remember getting so frustrated in Halo 3 when I did so well and have staff captains as my teammates get negative K/D.

This system will only work if matchmaking actually match people of similar skill.

Extra point for being player of the match added and I’m completely fine with it.

I understand how you feel. That was incredibly frustrating.

However, even though the current TrueSkill system can use a LOT of work, considering it’s a horrible system for matching players of equal skill together, no system is perfect.

Should have made a third option: altered version.

How exactly could this already-incredibly simple system be altered in any way? You get a point if you win, you get nothing if you lose. Simple as that. I can’t possibly think of any modifications that could be made to this system…

They should meld the credit system with the experience system(credits for the armory and experience for ranking up)

The halo3 ranking system takes longer to rank up in it.

Do you mean they should simply place both systems in the game?

I would be completely fine with this. In fact, if this is what I hope happens. I would like the credit system, however, altered, not the experience system.

Credits should work strictly on kills and accomplishments in game, not game completion and simply partaking in the game itself. This simple flaw in Halo: Reach’s credit system led to idling. Let the player earn his credits. Don’t just give them to him for being in the game, even if the said player received very little kills and accomplishments in game.

For example, if Halo 4 does in fact receive a credit system, a kill in any game should be worth somewhere around 10 credits, an additional 2-3 credits for a headshot, an additional extra credit for every multikill, and even credits for things like sprees and other accomplishments. With these base values, the credit system would be a full success, and manipulation would be prevented, you know, considering people have to actually play to earn their credits rather than just receive them for just being there.

If you were meaning to say that you desire both systems, I can agree with you. However, I would be fine with just an experience system. However, I wouldn’t like a credit system alone.

I think something that implements the Halo 3 experience system but is new could be better.

I’d say a 1-50 ranking system for ranked playlists. You earn 1 exp for each you win and it takes a certain number of experience points to rank up. You can’t rank down.

Then some sort of credit system for unlocking new armor/upgrades. This credit system would not effect your rank.

> The halo3 ranking system takes longer to rank up in it.

What exactly do you mean? Are you referring to the 1-50 ranking system in Halo 3? Or the Global ranks in Halo 3 (which uses both the experience system and the 1-50 skill ranking system)? If so, please refer to the note I provided in the original post of this thread.

i love the halo 3 system, but it could be better. experience point idea should stay the same, as well as certain experience points to have high rank. Although, the leveling of the rank should be different. it just wasn’t quite accurate enough for me. have a scoring system that uses k/d, participation, friendly fire, assists, etc. each category whether being good or bad would determine your rank leveling up. kind of way to have a high rank fast, but require you to keep being good as it could go down like in Halo 3. It’s almost the same system, but Halo 3 ranking leveling only required consecutive wins. i like my idea better.

Im all for EXP and EXP PER PLAYLIST !!!

Its was a great add on to halo 3 and still loved by many…

Here is another EXP THREAD ITS GOING A LITTLE BETTER…

EXP FTW

I think it should be something like 4 EXP if you win in the top half of your team, 3 if you win in the bottom half, 2 if you loose but do pretty well (like top 3), 1 if you loose but did okay (like in the top 5, if you’re on big team), and 0 if your in the bottom 3 of your team. And of course - 1-4 if you leave depending on when you leave, or whether your in ranked or social.

Or some variant of this, the numbers probably need tweaking.

Well the system should reward or punish you because of said teammates. It should rate you on how well you do in terms of assists, kills, captures things like that. You shouldn’t be punished for bad players and bad players shouldn’t be rewarded because of the good players.

I liked the experience based system but I wont care if it returns or not. All I want is 1-50 and Im all good.

I agree with the OP. Bring it back 343i.
