Let’s face it no buys map packs anymore.
Making an expansion pack with:
-A little short story like odst
-new map pack
-new armour, weapons, etc
-small additions to the campaign, cosmetic stuff, like funny outfits for MC, enemies etc to ad mored replay value to the game
-some concept art
Funny enough ODST was going to be an expansion until they decided to be greedy but I still enjoyed it. This could be round about $30 or £20 which is the same price for expansions like WoW and other mmos have made their expansions even cheaper.
Expansion packs are treated nicer than DLC and people are willing to be more acceptant of it. Also it is much more value for money by the consumer as they are not just spending £8 or $12 on 3 maps that might not be good.

I honestly wouldn’t mind, BUT as long as it’s not a 100% replacement for map packs, but more of an alternate way to get DLC maps, and it’d have to have more than just a small handful of maps.

Stealth did you hear people are making a free to play halo game for PC your dream is coming true
I’d love story expansion packs with more full-blown campaign missions (Not the firefight-esque experience we had with SpOps). These campaign missions wouldn’t be able to follow the main storyline however, that would be like selling us the game in chunks and forcing people to pay to experience the full storyline of the main games.
I’ve always liked Gears of War’s story expansions, I’d like to see them in Halo too.

it’s not an official Halo game as far as I know, so I’m not holding my breath until it’s full release.
I’d rather they just have cosmetic Microtransactions instead of having to deal with paying for game-changing content like maps that never come up in play.
An additional M7s coming my way wouldn’t hurt…
I think the Champion’s Bundle is a good example of how future Halo DLC should take form. We should be given maps and aesthetic pieces, perhaps even mini campaign missions, as you suggest, and be given the option to either buy them all separately or in one big bundle. That way, people can buy exactly what they want, and not feel forced to pay more money for something they wouldn’t use.

Yes. The problem with just maps is that they’re never worth it everyone gets them, and that never happens. In the history of Halo no map was so awesome that everyone had to have it. Plus, most gamers seem to feel that once they have paid for the game, anything else that comes with it should be free no matter how much later it comes out
Expansion pack is a good idea, especially if we can forge the maps.
What ODST did to Halo 3 was great. Having a second disc that was Halo 3 Multiplayer that contained all Original maps and DLC was the best idea ever.
I still don’t get why HCEA did not do this. HCEA only contained the new DLC. No other DLC and no original maps. If HCEA was like ODST, where it contained all REACH Original MAPS and DLC. It would had improved REACH Multiplayer 10 fold.
I was hoping that Halo 2 Anniversary would do this for Halo 4 this year. But it seems that H2A is not being released or even been confirmed.
I agree with you OP. I’d rather just pay another 20 to 30 dollars for an expansion giving armor, maps, new forge items, gametypes, skins and missions than 12 dollars for maps. I don’t even mind waiting half a year after release for it as long as it is worth the purchase.
That is just me. I’m sure we’ve all seen the person who just hates for the sake of hating.
I’m all for this.
It’d be great if the mini campaigns were based around our War games avatars.
And if there’s more Campaign exclusive vehicles in Halo 5 like the Shadow, Broadsword, Seraph, Pelican, Phantom, Mammoth and Scarab they’d better make a second appearance in these mini campaigns. S ops had so much potential to put these in, but we only ever got to see the Lich.

Agreed. Maybe take a little step further and have a little bit more of everything offered, or at least 3-4 maps. Have it either purchasable as a bundle or individual packs.
I agree to this. In my opinion, it should be handled a bit like Gears of War 3’s map packs as well.
For instance, the main draw to the expansion should be for more content to a new version of Spartan Ops. Not the watered down Firefight mode we got in 4, but at least five campaign quality and length missions that are primarily focused on expanding the story.
Included in it, similar to Gears of War 3, purchasing the expansion will also give early access to the new map pack, somewhere between a month to two months of access before it goes free to all. This way DLC maps do not keep fracturing matchmaking into a diminishing wasteland, and buyers of map packs don’t feel cheated because they never get to play on DLC maps because someone didn’t pay for it.
Also included for purchasers of the expansion should be new cosmetic additions: Armors, emblems, skins, effects, etc. So along with the new campaign missions, the cosmetic addition will be exclusive to those that bought the expansion pack, as just a bit more incentive to have people buy them.
As for price, I’d say $20 would be a fair number for it.
I like this idea. Buyers could be rewarded with additional Armour Effects (if applicable - much like it was in Reach), accessories, skins, emblems, Avatar awards etc. Now for the campaign part, they should have provided this with Halo CEA, in which they continue the story with a First Strike mini campaign. At least we finally would have got to see how Johnson and Halsey survived, and an appearance from Blue Team, by which there absence in the Original Trilogy could also have been explained.

Everything in that list except the highlighted one I would agree with, I’d rather stay away from the less serious things in halo, I think it should stay a serious game (apart from easter eggs, they can be as wacky as possible)
I think everyone is getting a bit confused with the mini campaign, I’m not talking about addition missions. Take this an example, you play as a squad of marine looking for chief but discover something else( PLOT TWIST!!! ) and the campaign would be 4 hours long

These things would optional to turn on and equip etc like the grunt birthday party

Remember shadow of Raam?
> Remember shadow of Raam?
Yup, lot of fun, though I remember feeling it was very short. It was also only $15 so can’t really complain too much.
Gears 3 did a lot of things right in my opinion. Horde 2.0, Beast mode, and how they handled the DLC. Too bad Judgement pretty much screwed all that up.
I’d like to see a new Firefight mode like Horde 2.0, with points you earn allowing you to purchase things like ammo, weapons, vehicles, and defenses. Could even have you actually defend something. For example, defending the generator that powers the Orbital Defense Platforms like what Red Team did in Fall of Reach. Even change the wave/round/set setup for just a straight numerical wave count, and have every 10th wave be a boss wave. Depending on the map size, could have it be a pair of Scarabs you have to fight like in Halo 3.
A smaller mode like beast mode would be fun to. Have people play as their choice Covenant races against bot Marines, ODST, and S-IVs.
The next Halo game could learn a lot from how Gears 3 was designed, especially now that Microsoft owns all that is Gears.
