As a fan of the Halo lore, I really hope alot happens within Halo Infinite’s story. That’s the only reason why i play each Halo game, I don’t care how bad the multiplayer can be. The gameplay of Halo 5 didn’t really bother me that much, it was the campaign. It just wasn’t that appealing to me and it didn’t feel like a Halo story. I hope they can do alot with the story with perfect balance. Halo 2 is proof that we can have 2 sides in a Halo story and that it can still be great. Unpopular opinion, but Halo 4 also did well with telling 2 sides to the story by introducing Spartan Ops. Since 343 announced that the campaign will focus more on the chief, they can imply more to the story by adding a return of Spartan Ops or atleast something like it. Me personally, I hope Spartan Ops can make a come back with improvement. I think the only reason why most people didn’t like it was because we played the same maps over & over again. Although I do agree that it was kinda dumb to play in the same locations, I still appreciated Spartan Ops for its story. With things like Atriox, Flood still being out there, and other things in the Halo Universe just think of the possibilities that can occur within Infinite’s story without shoving it all into the campaign. So, I have an idea.
Reintroduce Spartan Ops with a cast of Spirit of Fire’s Omega Team. This would make Spartan 2’s playable again in the multiplayer as well. And since theories have it that the whole Banished & Spirit of Fire situation would continue in Halo Infinite, this version of Spartan Ops would give those who aren’t hip to the Halo Wars games, a chance to see that side of the Halo lore. The story would be about the Spirit of Fire’s side of the whole Guardian & Created situation. Obviously, banished would be involved and this story would resolve Spirit of Fire getting back in touch with the rest of humanity and getting off the Ark. Though, I wouldn’t want the Banished to go to waste and get killed off in Infinite. If that whole ark situation doesn’t get dealt with in Infinite, I wouldn’t mind if it gets continued off into another game. This is just an idea, remember so don’t talk to me like I would expect these things. As long as Infinite is a good game, I don’t care.
Aside from my idea, I still have my faith in 343 no matter what. I think they could have finally learned from their mistakes to make this a great game.

To be fair though,the cutscenes of spartan ops expanded the story,not the actual missions.Most of the missions were push a button and defend the area and alot of it was just recycled environments

Honestly, I think Spartan Ops biggest problem was that there was too much of it. They shot themselves in the foot setting a mission goal ahead of time. Once you go in and remove any mission that is not directly relevant the the week’s episode or that has no bearing on the overall narrative, you can cut basically half the missions. The result of that is that Spartan Ops much a much less repetitive as it wouldn’t reuse a ‘map’ more than twice while not losing any individual map.
If you go into it with the goal of focusing on the story you want to tell while adding things like Scoring and skulls, Spartan Ops still has the potential to add a lot of value and be a worthwhile addition.
Personally, if it ever did return, I think it would be a good idea to keep each season as a self contained story that would work as an anthology rather than ongoing narrative.
Spartan ops was awesome, essentially firefight with a story. I really want to see Spartan ops return
