The content team are still not running at full speed and are obviously still working on other things. So they don’t want everyone burning through this too quickly.
Once they have fully transitioned to battle pass content, then things will change. A quick look at the 160+ day battle pass duration should be enough to know that 343 are still scrambling to get things together.
That’s not an excuse and it sure doesn’t suddenly make me feel like it is a rewarding system or fun to use.
which is the main issue- it’s not at all rewarding and it’s frustrating I have next to no customisation options despite paying for them, and I have to further invest hundreds of hours just to unlock things I paid for.

Oh, it ain’t an excuse. More of a criticism of 343s terrible project Managemt.
Hopefully, they will get up to speed quickly
The problem with this is that it gives a negative first impression to many players. Maybe a temporary, Beta-specific Battle Pass would have been a better solution, where Beta players could have unlocked a few things for playing early. And then, Season 1 could’ve started properly when the game officially launches. Because as it stands now it is communicated that this is the content-complete, real version of the multiplayer, with progress being carried over to the final release, so it’s safe to assume that the current progression system is by design. Which is unfortunate as it’s probably going to put off some players even before the real launch.
