EXP earning is way too slow

It’s slow on purpose so that you’ll buy double xp boosts.

I have 5 hours of play time and I’m still level 2 lmao.

Absolutely agreed! Inam having a fricking BLAST bit come on, gove evem just 50xp per game

I honestly think I’m just gonna quit the game after the novelty of a new halo wears off over trying to get through the battlepass. I’ve already played almost 5 hours and I’m only level 3 if that keeps up I’m looking at like 150ish hours of grinding just to complete the battle pass when I already paid for the privilege of grinding through it. Hopefully the campaign is good because 343i out right lied when they said they’d respect the time of players that have lives outside of playing halo, I know it shouldn’t matter that much to just unlock skins in a game but even getting basic stuff is gonna take like 50 hours of grinding in a game that is heavily lacking in content as is.

I agree, it feels terrible, after playing several matches I feel like I’ve made little to no progress at all because I’m not constantly chasing challenges, I don’t want to spend every match just trying to do the challenges either, I’d rather work through them casually at a pace that doesn’t interrupt the gameplay of every match I’m in.

I agree, the game is fun in all, but I’d prefer for the xp grind to be a bit faster.

Big oof.

Also, can’t tell who, but looks like a mod or one of the developers decided to put a disclaimer on this topic.

I can’t read it, because it won’t scroll and is covered up by the people that have commented.

yes, please make exp faster. it doesnt have to be a level every game but if im playing 30+ games and only ranking up twice thats kind of crazy lol

Yeah…

They need to get their shit together.

I’m so thankful to see that near everyone agrees that 343 screwed the pooch hard on progression. I’m just baffled at how they thought the general population would be okay with this when every other game has some sort of progression system that triggers that sweet dopamine on a regular basis to keep players retained. Personally I’d love for more of the challenges to be able to be completed in PvE modes.

I should have kept track for myself, but how long did it take for everyone to get 1000 points?

Edit: I’m at 1,200 points and have been playing roughly 2 hours.

agree. I purchased battlepass straight away but progression is too slow.

I know 343 want halo to compete with the likes of fortnite, but the zeitgeist of gamer expectation is more meaningful progression.

Doing some quick math, assuming 1000 points/2hr (500pts/hr) it would take 200 hours to get to max level (100,000 points). Roughly 8hrs every week before the next season. I think people might be overreacting a bit.

Literally impossible for end users. It’s people on the dev team, possibly testers.

I’m rank 123 in Halo 5 and have every non-Spartan Company/Forge curator armor piece in the game unlocked. I did it without spending a penny in about 72 hours (3 Days on my service record plus some change from goofing off on H5 once in a while.

200 hours to complete a battle pass is nearly TRIPLE what it took me to unlock all of Halo 5’s reqs through RNG. 200 hours is almost as much time as it has taken me to complete SIX battle passes in Black Ops Cold War!

You think 200 hours to max a single battlepass is okay? Not even Destiny 2 battlepasses take that long.

Yes, I think it is perfectly ok, because 1) it never expires, and 2) people won’t max out the unlocks in just a few days.

Believe it or not, people don’t want to be miserable no lifing frustrating challenges for 200 hours to unlock cosmetics they already paid for. Stop being an apologist for this objectively bad progression system.

Here I was thinking we were having a civil discussion. My mistake.

Just adding my voice to the crowd, definitely would appreciate either medal based exp rewards, or win/loss based exp rewards for sure. I just want to play the game, it really sucks to see people inting for challenges in ranked matches. It feels bad for me to be inting just to complete challenges in casual matches. It’s just not a good system.

It’s pretty much my only complaint with the game, aside from Oddball being included in Ranked (wtf lol?).

I can understand your train of thought. But 200 hours is quite hefty for most. It also doesn’t solve the problem of chasing challenges vs. playing the objectives.

I think most players are asking for a happy middle ground. Of course, multiplayer being a free to play game, 343 needs to make some money back on their work. But with the way things are now, it’s just a list of chores that aren’t very rewarding or fun to do.
