I’ll bloody honest with you, i rather take a Battle-Pass where the Progress is that slow, than having one which is build around FOMO…
Yeah I’ve been going three hours and only got to rank 2. That’s a little steep considering there’s a 100 ranks in a pass. Yikes.
Gears 5 has a similar setup but those challenges included stuff like Horde where you could farm AI and for using generic guns. Plus they were a lot more generous. I don’t recall it being that much work. Not only that but in Gears your characters are already really unique so there’s less imperative than with a Spartan to get new kit, stances etc
You should really be earning something every 2ish games. It is going to be an expectation and it’s about that for CoD. Sure it’s mostly junk I’ll never look at but it’s vital to know that it’s there.
Plus it would incentivise people to play shorter game modes or possibly AI rather than BTB.
I am not super keen to get stuff in this pass so it’s not a deal breaker. Although it’ll really annoy me if they do an Osiris one and out Vales armour at level 80 or something like that.
I understand that they’re challenges, but that doesn’t mean that we should have to suffer a slow season pass progression. Challenges should be the icing on the cake. Amazing feats should be rewarded; I think that much we can agree on. But there are other feats that don’t involve the season pass challenges.
All of these medals for double kills, triple kills, plasma stick, etc. should be rewarded as well. Hell, just being there and being involved in the team dynamics and tactics should enough to merit some EXP.
As it is right now, we’re all chasing after these challenges instead of trying to win the match. Instead of capping the flag, we’re all in the distance trying to get kills with some arbitrary weapon or vehicle. What’s the point of trying to win the match if we don’t get EXP anyways. Challenges give EXP. Doesn’t that sound fundamentally wrong?
The “10 Year Plan” was referring to the length of time it would take to complete the BP without buying tiers or credits.
Yeah the system is terrible like everybody has said before during the flights. Challenges interfering with gameplay and being super grindy. I hope this gets adjusted as the game is rock solid so far.
Hopefully we can get a simple XP progression addition for just playing games…that would be nice. Like MCC…add in challenges for the extra boosts. I know thay’re working on a new system, so hopefully that streamlines things a bit better!
Since before this Beta launch, I’ve been saying this will horribly hinder the games reception and player retention. After 6 hours I’m already at the stage where the game feels like a grind to get some cool looking gear. Not to mention the customisation being very restricted, which completely contradicts the ‘Reach-style’ customisation we were promised.
If these issues are not addressed prior to full launch, the game is not going to be in a good place, and it will reach that not-so-good place very very quickly.
This is to last us until May you crazy cats. 6 months long… Of course you aren’t going to hit level 20 in a day.
This. Performance-based rewards are the key to a good progression system. It does a better job of retaining players with consistent progression, and encouraging team-play due to XP gained from objective based medals. This really needs changing, and we’ve been saying this since flights.
Its almost like a different franchise tried a horribly grindy and unrewarding progression system and it didn’t end well for them at all Cough Cough Battlefront 2 Cough Cough
Thats a sad point. Knowing at activision has a more rewarding battle pass model than someone else is a real slap in the face.
Agreed. I imagine this will have an effect on the player count as time moves on.
But thankfully 343i already acknowledged the issue with the progression but my guess is, they haven’t had the time or chance to redesign it without pushing back the release date of MP, possibly even beyond SP.
But good thing is, there is a different progression system already in development and on it’s way. If anything, you can get into the game in your own pace, purchase the battle pass if you want to own it already and then, once the new progression system hits go all into grind mode, without having to chase challenges that completely contradict your game play loop or forces you into game modes you actually have no interest in!.. Hopefully at least.
At this point, getting the AI in the Tutorial felt more rewarding than playing 3 hours of the multiplayer. Cause there is litereally no progress whatsoever, thats how slow it is with the challenges and 1k XP for just one Level.
it is so dam slow agreed! I like it so far but progression on the season is a bit of a joke
Agreed, an issue raised by thousands during the Flights… something 343 are actively looking to address in future seasons. I just hope it doesn’t turn too many people off in the short term… I HATE having to change my gameplay in order to accommodate certain challenges to rank up. The only reason to implement a system like this is to incentivize players to spend more and speed up progression, terrible anti-gamer system.
I get your point. And i am having fun playing the game actually. But if you have content in a game which you wanna get and can get but it is just not good to archive, it makes not much fun in this point, dont you agree to that?
Just have to echo the battle pass progression issues.
I am very bad at the game. That’s fine, I still like to play it. However, the way the BP is set up I’m absolutely GRINDING to get XP. I would never use double XP because I go multiple matches at times without getting any XP at all so it would probably be wasted.
By my count I’ve been playing MP for 4-5 hours already and haven’t gotten to tier 2. I’m bad at it sure but that is also bad regardless.
100% Agreed, it’s insane that I’ve been playing for almost 4 hours and still haven’t gotten to level 2. The challenge only progression wouldn’t have been so awful if ALL challenges were active at once, like in MCC, but the way they are now is terrible. You basically aren’t allowed to play what/how you want, you have to play whatever the roulette decides you can, otherwise you get nothing for your time.
They hid under the “but there’s no FOMO” claim, but this is honestly almost worse, because it still holds absolute control over your time, just from the other way around, all while pretending to be “player friendly.”
Earning 100 or 200 XP per weekly complete is just grind-fest. F2P at it’s finest.
My weekly challenges keep resetting automatically after a finish a few of them. Is that supposed to happen? How do I get to the final week special challenge?
