About that, 343 did state in the past that any passes you purchase will never expire. So there is some good news there, but you can only work on one pass at a time, afaik.
A lot of us would rather that in addition to the passes never expire, that the progression just worked like it does in MCC. With the seasons never expiring, and you can still progress normally based on your merit. Or go the challenge route as a bonus while also gaining merit. Right now, just for playing the game how it’s meant to be played. You only get 50xp, daily. You could get 6000-18,000xp in 1-2 matches in MCC, based on how you performed.
I’m burnt out as well, having just completed all of my challenges half an hour ago. I bought the $10 pass, and am at level 17. The only way for me to progress until the challenges reset is to play matches for the additional +50 XP, but since everyone gets +50 XP regardless of which team wins, there’s no incentivization to perform optimally.
And, 50XP is very little, regardless…
My biggest point of feedback is I want the progression to reflect good performance while in game. A flag capture, time with the ball, zone defended, slayer score etc should all be working toward my progression. I’ve had multiple games where I didn’t care to “play the objective” simply because I was off trying to get “X Weapon” challenge completed.
I think the best way to fix this is create an XP system based off of in-game performance, and then keep the challenges as additional XP on top of it. A challenge should be a secondary objective for the player in the back of their mind, rather than the primary goal over “playing the objective.” #multiplayer
The system is terrible, slow, and poorly rewarded.
Progress must be by playing and by playing well.
Temporarily it should be like this:
50exp for playing
50exp for winning +25 in btb
The experience boost is a scam, the time continues to discount on the menus or while loading the game! it is not correct for the player, he must discount ONLY during the match. I lost more than 20 minutes of boost time just because it didn’t load a btb and I had to restart the search and wait until all players are ready…
The system should allow a daily weekly challenge change for free.
These changes are basic and should be implemented imminently. Players are more concerned with completing challenges than having fun and playing to win correctly.
Pls fix this as soon as possible bebacuse the game is fantanatic and incredible. Don’t break the game only for monetization.
I don’t like the way this feels at all. They way the update to progression feels like a slap in the face. We will add 1h to the boosts to XP. Why? Oh to sell more items in the shop. This is just very blatant. Some people have a lot less time. They wouldn’t have gotten the battle pass if they couldn’t complete it. Honestly, I the xp gain per match needs to go up to 100 for a loss. Maybe 200 for a win.
Like many of you, I think I’ll just leave the game for a moment. I’ll be back for the campaign but that’s it.
We already have a job and we shouldn’t grind like this. Now, the multiplayer is fun as hell and I’m pretty sure this is going to be the best Halo since a very long time, but they need to change these challenges. Everybody is more focused on the challenges than the objectives and I don’t blame them.
Have fun on Infinite guys ! For the others, see you on the MCC !
The progression system for Halo Infinite is definitely slow. They say we’ll have enough time to complete season one with the current system, but there’s no way that will happen with the shorter lifespan of season two. I have a few ideas that I’d like to put out on how to make the progression system more flexible.
-
Make the completed match EXP 100 points. That should be simple and intuitive, the battle pass requires 100K EXP. Playing 1,000 matches would still take a while, but it’s better than the 50 EXP it currently is.
-
Make it so that we can select which game modes we can play. The current system in MCC works really well, and I think would help in completing those game-mode specific challenges that are just awful right now.
-
Pricing. In the worst case scenario, make it cheaper to spend those credits on level ups. 100 credits instead of 200, some people have day jobs and just don’t have the time to grind out an entire season.
-
Give us more challenges to complete that can make use of the bot matches. That can also take out some of the RNG that’s dependent on PVP matchmaking.
I’m sure other people will be able to cover areas that I haven’t addressed, but I feel like these four points would help. Please 343, listen to the community and make it easier to level up! The current multiplayer combat loop is great. The progression is awful! Thanks.
Same. Going back to MCC feels so much more appealing, both for the campaigns (For fun, and until Infinite’s Campaign), and for the multiplayer. I’ll only return to Infinite’s multiplayer once they replace this challenge-based system.
The amount of XP gained for playing is honestly laughable. The game basically it makes it more worthwhile to focus on completing the weekly challenges than to actually play the game and win matches. They could easily fix this by adding additional XP gained from winning a match (+25xp or +50xp for winning). It also isn’t worthwhile to even do good in matches which also could easily be fixed by making mythical medals or how well you played the objective give XP (certain medals could give a bonus of +10xp while rarer or harder to get medals could possibly give +25xp and how well/much you played the objective could give +10xp up to +50xp). This would help a lot of the issues with the xp system cause if you played well and used xp boosters it would help reduce the amount of time it takes just to level up. Currently the game just doesn’t offer enough incentive to win or do well in matches and that just doesn’t make the time and effort put into matches feel worth.
They just need to port the system over from MCC. It does everything you just mentioned.
The only time I ever ignore challenges is when I rank. Whenever I queue in for quickplay or BTB my top priority is doing the chores because it’s the only way to get new things to customize with. And that’s another issue, because there’s nothing to customize with from the start like being able to choose your own basic colors I’d rather just grind challenges and ignore objectives so I can actually have some variety with my spartan. Man I hope they make a change to both of these systems or I’ll just stick with the default and pretend the shop doesn’t exist
They should revert the 50xp back to 100xp, feels cheap.
The challenge-based progression system just needs to go altogether. there is absolutely no incentive to be even good at the game, when I can drop 20-30 kills on BTB and only get 50 XP for my trouble. Dumbing down the challenges does not address the issue. Playing normally and playing well should reward the player, and challenges should be difficult and rewarding enough that they’re worth doing. The MCC model is fine.
I have a challenge in which i need to win 3 total control matches. But ever since i got this challenge , no more total control matches. Progression is painfully slow, no incentive to play BTB. 50 xp for each match, 1000xp total for a level. So to complete a level i need to play 20 matches and can get more with quick play than wasting my time playing BTB which is long, no reward for points earned, and challenge progression is stressing me out
we also need a linear xp progression for all game modes
The amount of people that insist on being max level on day 1 is absurd. Here is my advice:
Pick one, or mix and match:
- Play a little every day and end up at max level by the time battlepass ends.
- Grind Halo Infinity multiplayer until you hate it and get max level ASAP.
- Play whenever the hell you want and don’t worry about getting “licensed digital goods” too much.
- Don’t play! It’s not fun anyway, right?
I want to be able to enjoy the game and unlock things while playing it, not grind challenges out till the reset or till I complete them. If there has been mention of a BP, wouldn’t it be more rewarding if more people completed more BP’s than having this system that makes you level every 20 matches (if you aren’t using XP boosts, 2x XP or challenges)
I’d heard earn your stripes, I don’t know if I want to earn these ones with this current system
If you have nothing to contribute, I don’t know why you are writing here…
Progression is a basic system in the fun of a game, the reward generates a psychological reaction in the player. Congratulations if you don’t need it, the rest of us we are human.
It’s not normal to have to dedicate 200 hours of playing to unlock the full pass.
It must be accessible to any type of player, and you don’t have the right to tell a player to express his ideas and suggestions of what is fun for HIM. The solution is not to tell him: stop playing. Under that premise the game would be empty of playera and 343 should close… It don’t have sense.
When everybody plays, we all win. Don’t forget it.
As of 11/22/21 and after the tuning done, it still feels too slow…
I was wondering about that, I have two weekly challenges left, and have noticed nothing else populates.
