EXP earning is way too slow

Exactly this, it just ruins the flow of the game if people are running round trying to get a sword kill, or constantly driving round trying to get a vehicle kill instead of pushing/defending A, B, C

If they are going to do this they need to design more objective focused ones based on playing the objectives like kill the opponent flag carrier 3 times, earn x amount of point for capturing zones in BTB, kill x amount of players in Slayer, kill the ball carrier x amount of times, have possesion of the ball for x amount of seconds etc.

You’re right - experienced the same, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to slow.

This exp system is so weird, like preser challanges will only last for so long. It stops you from trying your best to get medals and avoid the games mode like ctf. Like, it makes no sense to not allow match preformance exp. I hope we can change thus before launch as it feels like the game shackles you as of right now and gives me no motivation to do this challenges. Such a shame as the game is generally so so so good, please we gotta get this heard and fixed.

I think 343 has shown pretty clearly that they are hearing the concerns, and working to fix it. It’s less of a desperate issue now, and more of an endurance until Dec 8th.

They just changed the XP earning system by replacing the daily challenges with a 50 XP “Finish a match” challenge and replacing a lot of Weeklies to be more based around playing objectives and helping teammates instead of the stuff where you had to get a sniper kill on someone who used a grav lift.

I’m following you on this one. An hybrid system would be the best way IMO to have the feeling that we are rewarded for playing the best we can, instead of simply playing one game after the other without even bothering of being half-good (which already happened to me once, and I hated it…). That levels the whole game down because in the end, there is the risk that nobody really cares about playing well when simply participating is sufficient…

The challenges simply aren’t broad enough. I compared some of them to MCC and MCC let’s players tackle challenges in many ways that usually accounts for their preferred playstyle.

“Objective Results” you earn progress in any of 9 different modes (CTF, Oddball, Assault, Infection, Juggernaut, KOTH, Extraction, Dominion, VIP, and Territories). This GREATLY eliminates the RNG aspect of matchmaking.

Getting precision weapon kills lets you do that with the (BR, DMR, Carbine, Magnum, AutoMag, Light Rifle, Sniper, Beam Rifle, Binary Rifle, etc). Again this lets players use the weapons they want and doesn’t force them to fight over spawns.

Apply this to Infinite. Say the challenge is “Get 50 kills with small arms weapons”. Basing this off of the rotating weapon pads, a “small arms weapon” would be the Sidekick, Mangler, Plasma pistol, or the Disruptor.

Heck if they want player to try out new weapons, make a challenge called “The New Kids” or something and have it say, “Get 50 kills with Halo’s newest Arsenal” (Sidekick, Mangler, Disruptor, Shock Rifle, Skewer, Pulse Carbine, Stalker Rifle, Heatwave, etc). At least one of those is gonna spawn on a map, and player get to learn new guns that they may not have given a chance.

As I’ve pointed out in another thread, it’s even slower now.

1000 xp per level with what 99 levels?

4 different types of challenges rare daily, rare weekly, common daily, and common weekly.

The daily is repeatable and nets you 50 to 150? Basically 50 per game.

Weeklies can net you a fifth or a little under a third of a level. They run out though also they are tougher to complete. Some of them designed to be swapped out.

Swap outs are limited and are a reward for leveling… getting a thing that helps you skip challenges so you can get the thing that lets you skip challenges… wow.

Doing really lazy math and being very generous. Average game nets you 75 exp on a whole. 99000needed xp/75xp per game/ days left 165 is 8 games per days which can translate to about two in a half hours.

You’ll need to play this game for 2.5 hours every day for the next little over a quarter of a year to even get close to finishing the battlepass.

Let’s say we reduce the games per day to 4 that’s 1.5 hours a day. That feels reasonable. I think most halo fans have at least an hour to spare. They cranked and chose 8 to 10 games a day with 2 to 3 hour sessions very carefully. They are manipulating you to want to do anything to speed it up or buy a swap. This isn’t the scummiest battlepass but, it is scummy. Reduce the leveling by half and then we’ll talk about having exp after each game plus daily challenge xp and you’ll have a good system. Tune that number to 200 xp per game.

200 XP per game does sound generous. 99000 needed xp/ 200 granted xp per game/165 days left = 3 games per day is not bad but it raises a concern…

What will everyone do once they have a much easier time leveling up? They will max out the battlepass quick that they won’t have anything to grind until a new season drops around 6 months.

The grinding isn’t insane as much now that they made the changes which, thank god for the hotfix made to the battlepass.

You forgot to account for the weekly challenges that net you from 200 to 500 xp. (I think with how the rarity goes for them.)

(As I’m writing this, my challenges have been WAY WAY easier. They are not as hyper-specific or frustrating to execute in game. They’re all kill-based, I’m not sure if it’s the same for everyone but I hope it is.)

This change will make it far too easy to max out the battlepass.

I highly do not recommend halving the needed xp to max the battlepass because challenges now can be done quick and in bulk the longer you play.

I have to say that even with the changes in the XP, it seems extremely slow and bad to progress.
Why not add 2 daily challenges:
1 - Win 10 matches - 250xp
2 - Win 5 matches in a row - 250xp

And 1 objective per match:
1 - Win the match - 25xp

This would make people REALLY try to win the match, while also trying to achieve their own objectives:
The objective of 10 matches takes a lot of time and people need to do other things in their lives (so it’s a hard objective), and winning 5 matches one after the other is very hard, so maybe focusing on other objectives could be better, but not without trying to win the match as soon as possible.

I’ve heard they are doing up an update that applies a finish a match challenge that refreshes for each game.
As I think this is a good idea, I hope that there will be adding at least a medal exp addition as well. Its rough enough dropping 24 kills and only get half of a challenge bar done. It seems that they are trying to make you buy exp boost or levels.

I have just started getting into Halo, with my husband encouraging me to try it out. I have done some of the MCC challenges and they appear to be very good. Halo 5 also has, in my opinion, a good system too. I have to admit, I am only up to Level 25, but you get equipment and XP every game. Last night my husband was playing Infinite and he was showing me what is happening. It certainly appears to be almost everything, in this thread.

It doesn’t sell them if people don’t want to grind them out.

They fixed it bois! Thank you 343!

That’s a really good idea. I can see this boosting squad mechanics as well. If your idea became more of a primary goal, the weekly challenges secondary, and the dailies tertiary, I think we’d be golden.

Did they though? Have you played it yet? I’ve seen a lot of comments that at least the daily challenge change didn’t help.

They did not fix it. They made it worse for dailies. They made it slightly easier to get weeklies but when you’re done with weeklies it’s still a massive grind.

Uhh, I would not call halving the xp per match a fix.
