definatly havent played a oddball game
Like everyone on this forum, I want to express my displeasure regarding the progression that Halo Infinite has received for the battle pass, it is slow and does not encourage you to play. At first I thought that when the game came out the MCC challenge system would transfer to Infinite which is a very good progression system, and that also gives the player freedom to unlock what they like the most about a cosmetic tab of the pass, really You must do that, since it is the most appropriate solution, Infinite deserves to have many years of life ahead of it and if you, 343 care about the good reception, keep it impeccable, I hope this is solved in the launch of December 8. I am hopeful in Infinite, that it continues to improve

absofreakinglutely… this was the best version of a “battlepass” I’ve seen. I loved that I could pick and choose which items I spent my hard earned points on.
You can have up to 3 active (4 with the BP). The two I mentioned were both just sniper related.
I have to wonder though, do challenges work for custom games…?
For multiplayer, yes. I set goals, and I like to achieve them. I’m not too big on casual shoot em up multiplayer gameplay with zero rewards. Not with Halo/Cod types of multiplayer at least. Had the Singleplayer been out, I wouldn’t care and I’d go play that. But it is not, so I’m out of incentive to play when my goal is achieving a certain armor. Right now we have the MP Beta going on, so there isn’t too much to mess around with neither after you play through all the maps heavily at this point through all the gamemodes and matchmaking types. I’ve memorized even where all the vehicles and guns spawn too now. There is just not enough content as of the moment to satiate this hole where I am garnering no progress at all.
Like the other guy said, he likes to have cookies as a reward for his playing. I’d say I’m in the same boat there.
I’m complaining about the challenges as they are the only means to make any XP at all, which is a completely borked system as its self defeating for the game to release such a method. When you have next to no customization options and you spend even 30$ on the battlepass, you’re going to desire to grind that for your money’s worth/customization options. Thus there is no incentive to play if you’re lacking the ability to progress.
As already mentioned, I enjoy the game and I find it to be pretty solid outside this wacky issue with the Battlepass and garnering experience. This does not override my enjoyment of the game/or attitude towards it.
They said they plan on making in game exp but not till later. Can they atleast boost the amount of exp we get for challenges temp.
Cause boosting exp with the challenges shouldnt take as long as creating a new progreasion syatem just for the time being since they already decided that we should be earning more than just challenges exp
You are right, there were times when the progesion system simply bugged me and they did not show me current challenges, the progesion system is too slow and I hope it will update in time
Yeah, the xp needs to be restructured and it could be good to have both the challenge system and then xp tied to performance in game such as kills, game wins, objectives, etc. Feels like this current challenge system will tempt alot of players to do challenges in the moment instead of focusing on the actual match and helping the team win the game at all times. I would rather have big challenges that take a while to complete like 100 kills for example but it delivers a big boost along with the performance tied xp in game. I played at least 1 hr -2 hrs before getting the first level of the BP. I’m not sure if the levels increase from 1k xp to even more in the later levels but if it does, good luck man. Take 12 hours to get one level would be the worst. I like the game, it’s fun. But if it turns into being a job filling the BP out, I’m going to hop onto other games that feel more enjoyable.
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but there should also be a way to earn points in the battle progression system. If I could earn and recycle those points to continue getting the battle pass for next season that would be great
As so many I agree. Slow is kind of okay if the season is that long but it doesn’t feel rewarding. Especially the weekly rewards are an issue. There should be a mix of XP from gameplay (small gains) and XP from challenges (bigger gains).
We should get rewarded for playing the game, not for playing the game just to do the challenges WE DONT WANT TO DO just to progress!!! Also, 343 gonna do us like that and not even at least give us player levels!!!
I love the Game so far but only making progress through challenges is not fun. If its only through challanges there has to be a bigger amount of Xp per challenge otherwise you really have nothing to play for besides ranked cause the you dont notice any Bp progress at this speed. I would be totally fine iff you would just copy the System from MCC because I think thats a much better, yes even a great System. I hope 343 listens to this immense outcry cause it would be a bummer to ruin such a great Game just with a “simple” progrssion system.
Good thing literally no one is playing infinite multiplayer offline. l o l
This is just so true. I have played for a day, got some tiers and am almost out of weekly challenges within a day.
I have no opinion on the speed at which to get tiers but because there is no xp from finishing games it makes the game feel like there is no worth playing once you have done everything (could just be me because I really like progression and something to aim towards but nevertheless)
Like I said I don’t know about the speed of tiers but at least make xp progression more open to players instead of locking every opportunity of xp and progression behind even a chance of being able to do a challenge.
I watched a Video by Late Night Gaming, He said it took him an hour and a half to find a game of Total Control for him to play and try and win. He had to win 3 but needed a chance to try and get into a game.
Like many others I do agree on the fact this issue should be taken care of sooner rather than later because this can really damage how the game goes on later down the line. Only real problem I have with game everything else is pretty cool.
An OG Halo fan adds a voice to the pile and remarks about the EXP progression system:
PROS
- Challenge system encourages new ways of playing the game
- Exploring these new ways of playing can be fun and interesting
CONS
- Challenge system discourages familiar and preferred ways of playing the game
- Forcing new ways of playing can be frustrating and annoying
- The EXP progression and season pass more broadly is blatantly predatory by design
The third point in the list of cons is worth expanding upon, because it lies at the heart of why the system was designed in the way it was. The system is not designed to be fun and rewarding, it is designed to coerce certain players into microtransactions. A simple way to exert psychological pressure on a player to transform them into a payer is to frustrate them just enough so they want to pay-to-skip or pay-to-progress (forms of pay-to-win) their rewards. Whenever a developer engages in psychological coercion to push microtransactions, that’s unethical and results in poor game design… by design.
Monetization of free-to-play titles doesn’t have to be unethical and predatory. Doing that is a design choice. It can be done in ways that are simple and honest instead. Video games are supposed to be fun, not a list of chores. Put the priority on fun while also making fun content add-ons that are monetized. No grind, no tricks, no boosters, none of that. Just fun. It’s not hard to do this. All games used to be designed this way - not around monetization, but fun! Try it, 343.
Just came to be another voice in the sea of voices on this issue. I agree, progression is far too slow. The battle pass system is predatory and anti-consumer enough as it is, so the super slow challenge only progression really just adds insult to injury.
It should not take that much time.
Agreed nothing stifles my hype quite like finishing a game after doing really well only to see I got no challenges so all my medals mean nothing and I progress none.
