EXP earning is way too slow

the progress in the battle pass is very slow, they have to add the xp per game and make it the main way to earn xp

What a great system this is because I must win 3 times therefore I can leave when we are losing and you cannot be mad at me because if we dont win I get nothing

I can agree i already grinded all challenges and i have nothing to do but wait and i hate that

This whole game is designed to sell battle passes. The xp is a ridiculous grind. They purposely made this game require as little skill as possible by buffing the AR to be dominant, giving every bad player the chance to be competitive. More idiots playing means more idiots paying for battle passes.

This whole battle pass progression is completely garbage. You should get exp/points whenever playing a match regardless if you complete a challenge. the progression is just too slow. I get they want people to just spend money to unlock lvls and that’s the whole reason they did thus and why they made mp free beting on people just paying to unlock stuff. but that’s such shittty business practice and the profession system and battle pass as a whole is just a really crap system. they also need more customization options. my opinion may be the minority but I loved the way in halo 5 there was all these different variants of the same guns with forerunner tech scopes and muzels it was cool. they need to have additional unlocks and options to customize the weapons like that too. would make this million times better imo. also my biggest gripe aside from the progession is the lack of specified Playlist. when I do btb I don’t always want it to be random what if I just wanted to do slayer? they need to have more and the spawn time for the heavy vehicles like tanks and air vehicles is way too slow. they should have a btb mode with like just tons of vehicles spwaning. that’s also why I kinda liked the req system too but thst was also shady making people buy req packs. this game can be so good and fun. but there’s so much stuff they need to improve. first and foremost If they don’t change the progression this game won’t even last a couple months.

I think there are two routes they could take regarding XP. I don’t want to be too dramatic as I understand the game is free and money has to be made somewhere, but I think comparisons to any other free to play multiplayer are extremely fair. Fortnite is easily one of the best examples of monetization done right, the xp crawl is slow but not egregiously slow, and you get consistent xp from completing matches (more if you win) as well as gaining xp from doing the many challenges available. Another comparison to fornite or alternative option (if you want to keep progression slow) is that if you purchase the battlepass and make it to level 100 you gain enough vbucks to rebuy the battlepass next season, or spend it on cosmetics as you please. This could easily work in halo infinite and it encourages to both: keeping players to keep playing the game overtime and/or gives players the ability to choose armor pieces that they want (a very popular ability in the halo community cough halo reach cough). But right now it costs $20 for just 1 armor set and the daily deal was $10 for just a helmet?! I’m sorry to keep making the comparison, but in fortnite I’ve seen a $10 bundle that unlocks a whole character set and it gives you extra challenges that can complete for up to 1000 vbucks on top of the character (battlepass costs 950vbucks). I really felt like my money was worth while there, and that halo infinite is seriously overestimating the value of the products it’s offering

My other preference for this free to play halo monitization would be that the battlepass is the place to give out the epic or legendary core armors pieces (and make the armors super cool so we want to buy them), but then on the flip side allow players to gain credits in game that they can use to purchase the rare armors at their leisure.

I think overall long time halo fans are just mad because many (myself included) would’ve paid the $60 for the game, but now we’re paying $60 for the campaign and if we want any of the cool cosmetics in multiplayer (that we wouldve been able to get in the previous games when we paid $60) we have to pay a 3rd of the price of the campaign just for one set of armor. Feels like you are spitting in the face of long time, which I hate to see because the gameplay is so fun and I’d love to make halo infinite my passtime game.

EDIT: haha i got a bit off track from xp while writing this but i hope theyre still decent points, and if im being a -Yoink!- feel free to reply with your disagreements

yup exactly what I thought. like who the -Yoink!- thought that was a good idea? like let’s make progression solely based on challenges but in game you can’t view what your challenges are. it’s so dumb and the whole system is incredibly stupid and needs to change.

Agreed, way too slow.

It would be great if they did what they were doing in mcc, where you get xp for medals earned in game, like a double kill or a splatter medal.

I agree, 30+ games and barely level 3 seems very slow to me compared to most games. I do see the time frame is much longer also though said like 120+ days left.

While I am excited for a bunch of the rewards in the season pass, the progression system is terrible.

  • It incentivizes ignoring objectives to attempt to complete challenges, thus hindering your team.

  • On the surface it seems that they just want you buy levels by making it overly grindy

  • Players are already reporting they are unable to progress because in some cases they’ll have a required match type for a challenge and then they go several games without that match type coming up

  • Some challenges require Ranked games. Many players do not want to be forced to play ranked to progress

  • All available challenges should be completable at any time. Having to wait until they are on the short list is a waste of everyone’s time.

  • Medals are meaningless. It doesn’t matter if I get a triple kill, complete flag/oddball objectives or anything else. There is no exp reward for it.

  • Many of these challenges force us to play the game in a way that makes it no longer fun.

  • I enjoy the gameplay loop and I want to keep playing, I spent the $10 for your season pass, just let me earn the exp at a decent rate.

  • Halo has been dead to me since Halo 3 and I feel like 343 has finally gotten multiplayer to a good place. But if You’re going to go with season pass model, you need to do it in a player friendly way or many of us are not going to stick around.

  • Having the challenges available is nice and it’s a welcome source for what I feel should be BONUS EXP. It should NOT be the only source.

Despite being interested in it. I will be voting with my wallet and not purchasing the campaign until the progression model for the MP season pass is improvedio

Has anyone done custom game and tried to complete a challenge? If so what were the result? I been trying to search posts for the answer but haven’t found one.

The challenge XP system was a very bad idea. What makes it worse is that some of my challenges are not tracking. What good is a challenge based xp system if the core method for gaining xp is glitched?

I like this game a lot. But this xp earring system needs a fix, and fast. Even if, just in the short term 343i could get the system counting challenge progression properly; I’d be happy to wait a bit longer for a proper per-match xp system.

Please don’t tie XP to challenges. I don’t want to be forced to play big team and run around looking for an M247 HMG… which once found I guess has to be used mounted… I’m sitting there waiting for someone to come by. that can’t have been the intent.

It’s still worth a buy imo, because you may wanna pick it up and complete it at your own pace.
343 did mention Battle Pass not expiring, so the Season lasting till May could only be for the f2p players who are grabbing the free reward tiers.

The pass has alot of fan favourite armors and kits from Halo Reach, so I bought it anyway.
Now armorkits and restricted customization on the other hand is another troublesome topic altogether.

Agreed its a slog for sure

IMO 343 needs to do better, they say they are listening to our feedback, but this has been our feedback since the first flight! we need per game XP!

Stop forcing us to do challenges and making us, forcing us even to play the way you want us to!

Definitely played several BTB matches that went into overtime and only received 100 xp just for completing the match. The challenge xp isn’t enough, needs to have XP have Halo Reach were xp gain are based by performance, match results, and other actions.

I agree, the progression system sucks. I love the gameplay and everything else, but I believe they need to make battle pass progression based on performance, the challenges could be maybe like an optional xp booster. But until the systems changes for the better, I fear I might just sit this one out which I hate saying as a long time Halo fan because this has been a looooong time coming.

Way, way, way, to slow. And after weeklies and dailies are done we can’t earn anymore xp. So if ypu play hard for a day you could possible finish all you exp gains for the week. Not good.

Please do better. Yall should have seen this with your parent company bungie when the screwed destiny’s pass up so badly with challenge grinds.
