That isn’t actually a bug - just how the progression system (currently) works.
I’m also not a fan of this.
I feel like your time playing outside of getting challenges isn’t rewarded - there isn’t even a player levelling system (might just be a flight thing too) so you’re not getting XP for playing either.
How would a player “catch up” on older seasons if you can only earn so much XP per day.
I’m really really hoping they consider changing this.

Wait…… so game EXP doesn’t go to the battle pass currently? That’s a bad move.

Yup, if you look after completing a match you actually don’t get XP unless you’ve beat a challenge. There’s a tweet from one of the 343i team that clarifies this.
I completely agree, I think it’s a very unwise move.
I can somewhat understand the reasoning behind it but I do not like it.

This is a very bad move and they need to reconsider it.
I missed 1 day of playing and now I can’t max it out because of the Challenge system
