Let me give my example. I was SR-79 this week, farming for War Games wins for the monthly, 150 Precision weapon kills for the weekly, and I had about 1,500 XP left to rank up. I completed the challenges, together worth 40,000 XP, but since I was at the end of my specialization, I only got the XP to SR-80. 39,000+ XP gone, right there. Any way we can fix this?
Sorry there is no way to fix it or recover the xp. I can give you this advice though for the future. Next time you are close to ranking up a spec. and close to a challenge, do something else. Go into forge for a few games or play spartan ops solo. Do what you have to do to save the challenge xp for after you hit the next spec.
This happened to me before and yes it sucks.
Just have to do like the poster above me says and avoid completing challenges and commendations so close to finishing a spec.
Next time you are about to max out a spec, try doing spartan ops instead and try to avoid the challenges. Or do something else on MM where you wont be able to unlock the challenges.
I was just hoping to, if nothing else, spread awareness. I know that my XP couldn’t be recovered, but I’d like to see it not happen to anyone again.

The advice people are giving you is true, but I also wanted to reassure you that in a short period of time, you will hit 130, and this issue will be forgotten - you will start knocking out Commendations and Challenges and throw thousands of XP on the floor daily.
