Exile update: G. Hog fix

Feel free to test for yourself

A) switch G. Hog and Tank locations (seems to be the favorite so far)

B) give both sides a G. Hog ( this was hell if both sides ever get booth, but rarely happened)

C) replace G. Hog with R. Hog (this was pretty boring to me, but many approved )

D) replace G. Hog with a Tank (not yet tested, not enough people willing to test… Hell I don’t even want to)

Any other ideas?


“A” was most prefered because blue team started with tank and red Team had to sprint to G. Hog. Not perfectly even but was a large improvement.

I have no problem playing default Exile or, if the enemy has the gauss hog, destroying it.

I’d say give both a Gauss. More chaos! Besides, with all the power weapons and the slow reload, most of the time it gets blown up pretty easily.

Not saying it isn’t powerful but c’mon. It’s the Gauss. It’s supposed to be powerful. Just saying that I find it a little more difficult to go on the kind of sprees I could pull off in 3 and Reach because of the influx of power weapons via ordnance. Doable, but trickier.

79% wins for me on Exile… So I’m not to broken up about it. But that doesn’t really matte.

The imbalances in the map come to light when you have two very equally team of decent players that are all trying. Especially with a good driver… That thing will not be brought down easily. Nothing short of a sniper or laser will take it down.

EMP does not stop the gunner from shooting, so even if you manage to EMP it, you won’t have enough time to stick it. If you snipe the gunner… Driver can still drive off and pick up a new gunner. Laser? You better be good at hiding the laser pointer, if spotted early the gunner will blast you easy.

In most of my games, if I ever am against it… Most effective strat seems to be distracting it with a hard light shield. The driver tends to drive at him for a splatter. If the gunner usually sees the shiny shield and doesn’t notic teammates crouching nearby with plasma pistols, all ready to hijack. We don’t like destroying such a nice piece of weaponry.

The G hog is only a problem because people don’t play as a team anymore. It’s one of the only situations where you can’t lone wolf it and win. You need to have one or two more people with you and take it out together. Halo used to be al about teamwork and I think everyone forgets that.

I agree. If both teams had the Gauss-Hog, i think the Scorpion should be removed. Every time i drive it, the map is too narrow.

It was insanely fun, except for that rare occasion one team controlled both G.Hogs. I could live with it… Still voting “A” but “B” works too

Exile is an awful asymmetrical map. If both got Rocket Hogs I think since they’d blow up within seconds it would be a bi more balanced. Rocket hogs would make it look cool too. Might affect the frame rate though. I have not once voted for this map.

Idk i like exile but i feel like 2 gauss would just be a bad idea especially if its a skilled team against randoms.

The scorpion tank should be removed.

idk maybe 2 mantises and gauss where tank used to be. Any warthog is too weak and i think the mantis would be a good support vehicle without being 2 OP.

With the banshee still in there i think it would make for a more interesting battle. Honestly if they had regular BTB without ordnance with objectives i think the game would just be more fun because then you wouldnt die constantly from power weapons.

Classic BTB:

  • no instant respawns
  • no personal ordance
  • preset loadouts (like reach)
  • No plasma grenades/pistol as loadout
  • Weapons on map
  • Objective gametypes added
  • join in-progress off

^ All that above would make a normal warthog actually useful and then you could just give both teams a normal warthog. This would also use more team work and skill and different gametypes could use different vehicles. I think in a update 343 will change it to fit what they think works the best.

I voted both get gauss, it may get a tad ridiculous if one team locks down both , but that’s really a matter of team strategy, kinda your teams fault if it happens to you.

It would probly work better with none but that leaves matchmaking gauss less , which might happen but I won’t vote for it, same with the scorpion, it’s the only map with one, my opinion they either gotta stay or move to another map but we can’t just nix 2 vehicles in a game that’s already short a vehicle or 3 depending how you look at it(covy transport, unsc flyer, anything promethean)

I don’t get why they didn’t just make the Gauss turret require you to charge the shot for a second like the Railgun. That could have made it pretty balanced in my opinion. Charge for a sec with the left trigger, fire with the right.

For more balance both teams should have a G.hog with the tank removed from the map and perhaps something else spawning there. Maybe another banshee?

Move gauss into the tank’s spot, leave the banshee, and give both sides an extra warthog.
