The map only is bad if your the Red team, because of that OP Gauss Hog. Also, the tank is in a terrible spot where Blue team can get it.

I like it
Great for sniping!
> The map only is bad if your the Red team, because of that OP Gauss Hog. Also, the tank is in a terrible spot where Blue team can get it.
I usually go for banshee.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been Red Team, flying around, only to realize there is both a Gauss Hog and Scorpion shooting at me.
The Gauss Hog needs to be removed and replaced, or the Scorpion needs to become a Gauss Hog for Red Team.
In my experience, I originally LOVED Exile and still do to an extent. It’s just that, as others have stated, the map is terribly unbalanced. The Gauss hog to me is the elephant in the room.
Essentially what happens when I play is, red and blue go for Scorpion, blue in a mongoose and red just runs to it, another blue picks up rockets, and even if red side gets the scorpion, it’s blasted to Hell in an instant by the blue’s rocket launcher.
Then you have the almighty Gauss-hog. I don’t like the vehicle in the first place, but what makes it worse is the maps design. It’s hardly worth it for me to change my loadout JUST so I can go after the gauss with a plasma pistol and plasma nades, since for me, I am not the best aim for one, and for another, I have little experience with plasma pistol. Usually I might get gauss sniped 2-3 times in a match at most because I try not to let it touch me. So, as someone who wants nothing to do with vehicles unless I’m hijacking a ghost or skyjacking, combined with how little I get killed by a gauss, it’s just not worth it to me to go after it.
Let’s not forget about how Exile is just a giant freaking loop with one side completely obscured by cover in the middle of the map, making that window you have to PP a gauss even smaller. If you try EMPing from the middle areas of the map, it’s easy to miss or just get gauss-sniped before it even matters. Even IF you get the EMP, the gauss will immediately put its crosshairs on you and screw you. If you try PPing it from, let’s say, directly behind it as it drives away, you have also a huge chance of getting owned before anything can be done.
And forget trying to call any teammates to shoot up the hog with you.
Oh, and one thing I noticed that bothers me also. This may be wrong but I’m pretty sure there’s more cover on the front of the gunner than on a standard hog. I can snipe a vanilla hog gunner down pretty well, but a gauss gunner? Doesn’t happen. Not from the front. I have to take the back. Whether its coincidence or lag that’s prevented me from sniping the front I can’t say for sure, but it certainly appears to have more cover.
Let’s also consider how, in pretty much every Exile game I get into, the blue team wins and there’s some smug loser sitting at the top of the leader board with 22-40 gauss cannon kills. At most 5 deaths.
The vehicle is, in my opinion, OP, at least on Exile. And combined with the sheer number of times it’s picked, it becomes a huge chore to find motivation to play on again and again. That is why I personally dislike Exile now.
I’ve played Exile a lot, and it is a great map for Dominion.
But whether Im on the Red or Blue team the only thing that matters is the quality of who I am playing with. If someone in the blue team in the GH and a driver gets in and races off with it, usually the hog is exterminated pretty quick, but if you have some savvy players they dont EVER push the hog past either bridge and can get kills galore. I did this as a driver yesterday of it and the guy shooting got top place, I got about 20 assists (and maxed out my achievement :D).
The hog should be placed on the other side of the base not right there immediately mind. Or maybe it should only spawn after a few minutes (and the tank and banshee).
I’ve won games on there as Red or Blue, people say Blue is better, maybe slightly but it doesn’t seem to matter in the games I’ve played in to any real extent. Thats all I can go on, cant comment on the games other have had on it.
With good teamwork,
The gauss canon and tank can be neutralized making this a great map.
It has CQC combat in the caves
It has open combat in the area to the left of Blue
I love it
The map is fine damn get it in your head its how 343 puts the vehicles on the map !
Exile and Ragnarok are by far the most popular maps in the BTB playlist, on these forums though, they are the least popular.
This dynamic has played out so many times its astounding.
Exile is trash in btb. It’s an unbalanced map that has lost its sine very quickly after it being voted so much. After playing it the majority of the time, I have come to dislike more and more.
Ragnarok is voted out nostalgia. It’s just a boring map that becomes a stand still too many times. Dmr across the bases and hope to get a sniper weapon or laser in Ordnance… Half the time, everyone are hiding behind rocks. The mantis gets wrecked easily unless you have cover and a good team (still boring with full party)…
I can’t say I like any of the btb maps. They aren’t memorable or special. They flow like -Yoink-. Infinity makes everything worse. Big part of why I avoid btb is because of the gameplay.
Exile does suck, it just sucks less than Meltdown, Longbow, Vortex, and all of the Crimson maps. There is probably one big map left to go in the Castle map pack, and considering 343’s big map batting average, I bet the big map in castle will also suck worse than Exile.
I’ve taken my big team battle business back to Halo: Reach. (Halo 3 has some great big maps, but you need to buy all of the DLC to play the big team battle playlist).
Personally I just find Exile to be a scramble for the power vehicles, then once those are destroy it’s just a cluster -Yoink!- of everyone scrambling to cover UNTILL the power vehicles respawn, taking shots at one-another as the opprotunity arises (at this point those that HAD the vehicles prior to them being destroyed likely having ordinance).
Also this is completely un-based on any facts; But does anyone else seem to notice the binary rifle and beam rifle get into ordinance drops ALOT on exile?
Exile sucks if you are red team. I quit if I spawn red. I have over 20 perfections with the banshee when spawning blue team though. Blue will beat red to the banshee every time if both are trying for it. Plus blue gets gauss. Red teams tank is worthless if you have a competent gauss & banshee.
If the map didn’t have guass hog i’d be ok with it…seriously, the Gauss Hog is like the DMR of vehicles. The Scorpion is almost next to useless because you’ll just get emp/stickied and if you manage to kill some dudes with it before they can then you better hope your team has the the God Hog or else you’ll get shot with it while you’re in the stupid thing. I’m cool with the banshee, the small flying space means if you cant fly for crap you’re going to get brought down really quickly.
but yeah, God Hog needs to go.
love me some Longbow. Turrents everywhere.

Please do not call it Valhalla. it is unworthy.

One thing is for sure, it’s pathetic how people complain that Exile is unbalanced…that is the biggest pile of Yoink peddling after the DMR.
I’m not on a team and I have no friends on my friends list. I do not use a Mic etc etc. Yet, what do I find possible on Exile?
Let me say first, that I have five load-outs for BTB. If I’m playing other game types, I have other load-outs which I put in place. The load-outs for BTB are:
First Strike/Vehicle capture/vehicle take down;
CQC;
Driver;
Ragnarok Red; and
Ragnarok Blue.
Exile Read team spawn:
If I’m in the mood to use a vehicle, I’ll use the First Strike/Vehicle capture/vehicle take down load-out to take control of either the Banshee or Scorpion. Blue team has never beaten me to the Scorpion yet and, only on very rare occasions does the Guass Hog shot me before I get to it. Using ‘mobility’ is important.
The Banshee is often a draw as to getting there first but, the idea is to be prepared to take down the Blue dude then get the Banshee. While not as successful as getting the Scorpion, it’s still been about a 50 per cent success rate.
If I’m not in the mood for a vehicle, I take down the Guass Hog very quickly on my own or at least damage it and team members finish it off. On the other hand, having done so, if I’m in the mood for the Gauss Hog, while the Blue team started the game with it, they do not get to use it for the rest of the game each time it re-spawns because I’ll have it. It’s easy, just know the re-spawn times.
Red team often beats Blue team and it has nothing to do with Red team necessarily being better but smarter at commandeering vehicles, both Red and Blue.
Exile Blue Team spawn:
If I want to destroy or at least give our team a chance for the Scorpion, I, on foot, using mobility and picking up a certain power weapon, kill Red players before or as they are getting into it.
If I want the Banshee, the same applies as what I said above.
If I want to drive the Gauss Hog…Red doesn’t usually get it the entire game…as I drive the Gunner(s) to good kill sprees while I singing along to M.C. Hammer’s “You Can’t Touch This”.
The rare occasions my above methods don’t work is when the opposite team is actually a real team with mics and partied up.
The truth of Exile is that if one plays smart, either team really does have an equal chance of winning.
Now some say but “I’ve” tested it and blue team has a 0.5 second advantage to get to the Banshee or Red team has an advantage blah blah. The only time that is factual is if it was a 1v1 on Exile with everything such as connection, lag or whatever being equal. However, in reality, there are so many factors at play, people bumping into each other off spawn as the game starts, running in different directions, jumping into vehicles and so on, that there are no advantages…they have been negated. And, it is for that reason,my methods work so well…I know exactly what I need to do and avoid situations which prevent me doing it.
If I can do it, anyone just about can. There is nothing wrong with Exile. The real problem is the individual player(s). Just play smart and Exile will be more enjoyable.
Unbalanced = poor excuse

That’s a very polemic attempt while trying to extrapolate the issue at hand about Exile.
If you can’t see it, then obviously you cannot grasp at what we’re saying about how bad this map is in regards to vehicles and how lopsided the whole map is. The majority of players do not play for tactics, they couldn’t care less, it’s just a game to have fun with. And as stated previously by another member, a noob using the controller upside down and with their toes, could easily get a running riot with that Gauss Hog.
I abhor Exile, and obviously rightfully so. Don’t get me wrong, I like the map itself, but obviously not the vehicles itself which gives 8 out of 10 times, a victory for blue. Get rid of those dominating vehicles like the tank and Gauss, and I’m all up in wanting to get my gaming on. Leave it there, and pass, or I’ll hide in a corner and take a break during game play the entire game, or just quit.
You do not not need this map to get high kill to death spreads. You just have to be good at reactions to contact, and utilizing cover and surface concealment. That mean’s no invis, and use the natural in game map natural concealment features.
Always be the first one on the scorpion or the gauss hog

It certainly did Yoink for the Blue Team yesterday.
I spawned Red Team, made a mad dash on foot to the Scorpion, headed left to Red base and did a trip around past the Banshee bay, past the front of Blue base and took up my position over near the wall near the little bridge. During that short drive, killing as I went, two Red team members somehow had killed the blue dudes on the Gauss Hog and acquired the said vehicle.
The due on the Gauss Hog got an Unfriggenbelivable! S/he went 48-1. It’s the first time I’ve been in game where I wasn’t driving and someone else drove someone to that medal.
I went 23-0 in the tank.
Blue Team had a bad day…
